Okay, well, I got my replacement power cord and that was all that was wrong with the Surface. Thank goodness. I had all the really important stuff saved to a memory card so if I had lost everything else it wouldn’t have been the end of the world, but it would still have been painful. The lack of alternate power solutions in the Surface is a design flaw in my opinion, but whatever. It is what it is. I always intended to buy a spare cord, but they were $200 even when they weren’t new. I checked later on and they were down to $80 so I never could convince myself to buy one. Even the off brand ones were expensive enough that I didn’t give them much thought. After a while I just forgot. I keep my old computer ready as a backup but it usually takes some time to get it running since it’s not updated every day now. I also didn’t upgrade the art software when I did the last upgrade. unfortunately I can’t find the license key so I ended up buying a standard version upgrade for the spare. With all the moving around with the Teen and whatnot I’ve lost track of my important software box…

Long story short I’m up and running as usual again. I’m gonna get a spare power cord for this thing now that I know that’s what the problem is. If I can afford it I’ll probably get a spare memory card to keep all the important files on a card I can actually get out of the surface easily if it fails for good at any point. Right now I can hold the art archive on one and not much else, but I’d rather have as much as possible on an extractable card. Of course I do have three other backup systems but I have to sit the thing down and do it all at once.

I’m considering using an online archive service but I really don’t trust companies that do that… Still it might be worth it if there was an automatic syncing feature of some sort.

Anyway that’s about the size of things. I usually try to have lots of failsafes in place, but I just ened up with a blind spot on the power cord. I mean I have 3 styluses for this thing a replacement nib pack, 3 external hard drives, memory cards, you name it, but it all falls apart without the damn power cord…

John playing wingman for Reggie. Interesting.

Yeah, he’s being a really good friend here. His honesty may bring a woman he likes closer to a man he doesn’t like much. But, his honesty is probably going to help everyone make better informed choices.

I usually find John kinda bland. I’m impressed by him in this page.

Couldn’t you use dropbox for your files? I don’t really use it, so I can’t tell you much about it, but I know you can just drag and drop files to and from it on multiple things.

Depends a bit on what you want. I use dropbox for storing various files and it seems to work flawlessly. For plain backup, I’ve heard good things about Backblaze ($5/month, unlimited size backup).

I use Mac so my personal backup solution is of no interest here, but it has saved my ass a couple of times.

Dropbox is pretty much removing the ability for storing pictures in the near future, unless you subscribe.
It’s indicating that their business model has had a little bit of a shake and might not be that sustainable after all.

“The cloud” is other peoples’ computers. I’ve been under the impression that any information you keep on someone else’s computer (such as your device at work) belongs to the owner of the hardware. Paying someone else to own my intellectual property has never appealed to me. Am I wrong in this?

That’s why encryption is your best friend.

But yeah, it’s probably not theirs But read the legalese of the privacy agreements, etc before you get to committed.

It could be that-

Reggie [likes] an assortment of women, in varied shapes, + sizes, + who have various scholarly backgrounds, but-

for right now, he is hiding his romantic attachment to two, curvy women- because he’s afraid that people will mock him, for liking these two women. Hmmm.

Didn’t he only like Alex, while Madison thought she had dibs on him?

It’s just Alex who assumed he liked fat girls because of it. Though, she was there wasn’t she, so she should’ve remembered he didn’t exactly have a say in it at all. :p

How much space so you need? And how fast does it grow? I have a slow DSL connection to the internet, but I do have some spare storage I could provide. It all depends on how much and how fast. And what software I’d have to run here to provision you. You can email me do discuss it offsite if you wish.

And, of course, times may change and someday it may not be as easily available.

Well that a little discouraging. XD

It would be storage on my home server. I may not live forever. And there may be competing uses for my system. But there is some space available now, and as one of several backup destinations, this might be useful for long enough to be a help. It’s strictly an amateur operation.

You always need more than one backup

Maybe start taking pictures of important product keys and saving those pictures to different devices if you don’t trust saving them to the cloud. I take pictures of business cards, product keys, confirmation codes, etc.
