811 Noooothing.

I’m pretty excited about the 3DS now that some decent games are appearing on the horizon.   I turned on my Wii for the first time since I started Dragon Age and watched some trailers.  I must have Mario Kart, and Super Mario.  I’m hoping that I can wait them out long enough for Nintendo to dick everyone else over by making an exclusive Kart or Mario 3DS, so I can finally have a special DS for once.  Apart from that I’m not sure.  Kid Icarus may not be my kind of thing even though I like the idea of it getting the sequel. I’m just about done with Dragon Age.  I have played the shit out of it.  All of the origin stories, all of the DLC.   I kind of wish i’d played the DLC first so i could have played through the other times with all the present enhancements, but whatever.  I only really enjoyed playing as a rogue.  I don’t like having things locked away from me.  Even if I can’t fight as well the idea that I can’t get into a door or a chest drives me nuts.  At least rogues aren’t pussies in Dragon Age. I hear that DA2 isn’t the same kind of game as DA.  That makes me sad, but I’d still like to play it I think.  I have the trial version to test out when I’m done.  If what I hear is true a lot of what I like is going to have been sacrificed for a more linear story, much like in Fable 3.  I enjoyed Fable 3 a lot though, so maybe DA2 will be a similar experience.

If I don’t start on DA2 I’ll probably see if I can stand Final Fantasy…  13?  What number are they up to?  Hopefully it will be cool once I get in to it a little.  I’m just so sick of Japanese girlyman heroes.  I’ve been sick of them for a while, as regulars will already know.  Final fantasy 12 won me over in spite of the lead kid.

if not that then I’m going to see about finishing Mario Galaxy.  I intend to get every star, just like I did with 2.  My suspicion is that it won’t be as hard as it was to do that as it was in the sequel.  So far Galaxy seems like a test run for Galaxy 2.  Which is no bad thing.

I could also see about finding that psp tactics game, or maybe Red Dead Redemption.   GTA cowboy seems like a thing I could get behind and play for a long time.

Finishing a game is weird because I get into a rhythm of living my life all day then ending by playing whatever game I’m playing.  The transition period is always awkward.

Are there any other RPG games that are more like Dragon age?  Like where you manage your stats and stuff like in KOTOR?  Do you guys know of anything that you think I would like based on what I talk about?

Nina is adorable when she blushes, and yes I know its been said. :P
also Carol’s face and pose in the second panel reminds me of a cat… and what with Nina’s looks, I’d say she resembles a mouse…. if you know what i’m sayin’ >:3

Also, you missed out on the perfect opportunity to get a 3DS. Walmart and Target dropped the price a day (or two) early, as a result letting people cash in on both the price drop AND the Ambassador program.

The Ambassador program was intended for “loyal” fans who bought the 3DS in the 6 month time span before the price drop. As long as they connected to the internet before the midnight the day of the drop, they are going to get 20 free games.

I say intended because they made it very easy for people who don’t have the ambassador program to get the games for free. the memory card is a regular old SD card, so all they have to do is put it into a computer and transfer the files.

OMG Nina just gets cuter and cuter, “sometimes erotic…very, very, erotic” so funny when i hear it in my head

Vaan from FF12 was just the perspective character. He was definitely not the lead character, just like how the narrator in The Great Gatsby wasn’t the lead in that story.

Don’t know if you played them yet, but the two new Fallout games are addictive. Even when I was pissed off at them, I played them to death. A few hundred hours worth of play with the DLC, which you may as well get, since the GOTY edition of Fallout 3 includes them all. Also, totally different type of game, but I loved Tales of Vesperia precisely because it’s very much a JRPG, but it didn’t have the girly lead, despite having long hair.

@Crave–

Poor Nina — her Grace is just so damned cute when she blushes and her ears turn pink! And is Carol discombobulated enough? I don’t think we’ve seen either of them so ill at ease since the comic started.

I was going to make some comment about you obsessing over your gaming hobby, but when I think about how obsessive I get about my own hobbies, I’ll let it pass. Suffice it to say, I go to country fairs to photograph farm equipment, spend hours or days researching it, and then post the photos ind history on the Web

i bought red dead redemption at launch, played the hell out of it, but didn’t quite get 100%, then sold it. then a year later we were driving from dallas to colorado, and all of that drive was like areas you ride through in red dead, so i got the itch and had to get gamefly to send it to me for a second play through.

Sorry to be dense, but what DID Carol think she was talking about?

My guess is that Carol though maybe Nina was “coming out”. Either that or she thought that Nina had revealed some kind of crush on Thomas – which would be more than a little awkwartd for Carol since her romance with Thomas is supposed to still be a secret from the rest of the crew.

if ur a gamer who likes complex games i would recommend u getting a disgaea game the first 2 are on the psp and the other 2 are on the ps3 though u may want to do some research on them to see if u would like them and just to warn u if ur a completionist be prepared to play them for months

I could easily give you a list as long as my arm for games you’d like, depending largely on how much time and effort you’re willing to put into your games.

The Wizardry and Ultima series (the former for stat management, especially the trilogy of 6-8, the latter for exploration.) are very hard, but wonderfully enjoyable, especially the NES version of Ultima 3, which is one of my favorite games of all time, both for what it is and for the nostalgia. I love games that make me ponder and kick me in the teeth for tiny mistakes. One can do wonders when the only thing acceptable is perfection.

I enjoy the Disgaea series if you enjoy JPN-style grinding (DW1-4, FF1-3, PS1-2 also on that list). I would largely give you tons of thousand-hour games if I kept on this list.

FF12 was amazing, as it’s largely 11’s base system with the ability to program your allies instead of partying up. Perfectly done.

for mechanics, Dragon Age reminded me of AD&D 2.0 and PSO, for a hybrid game. Honestly, if you enjoy stat-play, you should get into TTRPGs. You can’t get anything better than exactly what you want, methinks~

There’s always the Jagged Alliance series, if you’d prefer a more modern setting for your inventory management games. Seriously, you can have up to eighteen characters in JA2, and they can train themselves in specific stats and train others and/or militia.

I’m a Survival Horror man myself, so not much help I can offer. Parasite Eve is a good series, with 3rd Birthday for the PSP being an excellent tactical game. RE Mercs 3DS is where I’m at now, and it’s got a suprising touch of skill management.

now i think on it she certainly seems to be the type doesnt she

well id expect brooksie a bit more but i could see nina
