565 Public Disaster.

I still haven’t found a good deal on an old GBA, just in case you were wondering.  I’ve noticed that the value of one drops by an order of magnitude when they don’t have a battery cover though.  XD  It seems sill on the one hand, but it really is annoying not having one.  Nintendo sold about a billion of the damn things.  It’s a testament to a quality product that no one want to part with theirs.

I’m not sure how many of you are old enough to remember the first Gameboy.  I got mine not long after they came out.  I expect for Christmas, but I really can’t remember for sure now.  I think they all came with Tetris, but I’m not sure anymore.  I’m fairly certain I still have the box someplace though.  This probably won’t mean anything to the youngest among you, but it’s an illustration of how well I take care of my stuff.  My Gameboy still has the link port cover.  If you never had a Gameboy that, of course, means nothing to you.  They stopped putting covers on port holes after the first generation.  Probably because only the most anal of people could actually keep track of the damn things.  They aren’t attatched, and they don’t snap in very tight.  Pretty much picking a Gameboy up was enough to make the cover fall off, but somehow I managed to keep mine intact.

The system itself still looks pretty good considering how many places it’s been.  It’s only now beginning to get that discoloration plastic exhibits as it ages.  My SNES actually looks worse for whatever reason.  I’m not sure when it started but it went from gray to smoker’s teeth at some point and nothing could stop it that I know of.  XD

The most damage done to my Gameboy I did myself.  My initials are carved in the back, because I was obsessed with people knowing what stuff was mine at that age, I guess.  Clearly I hadn’t considered that a thief wouldn’t care that his initials weren’t on a stolen game system.  X]    I wonder in Nintendo still has replacement parts for these things.  I should replace the screen cover.  For old time’s sake, you know?

I had my link cable cover until Pokemon came out, (and keep in mind that this means I had it for 7 years) and then it was promptly swiped by an unscrupulous classmate. (It then for some reason decided to stop working recently.)

Recently picked up another old GB just for the sake of having one, and made damn sure it had its link cable cover.

Screen covers are available, but you’ll probably have to get lucky on e-bay or find some specialty sites.

The SNES was manufactured with some weird stuff in the plastic that makes it incredibly succeptible to age and UV rays. (In one of the factories, anyway) Mine has the smoker’s beige for the top half, but the bottom half is the same original grey it came as. (Shows you where each half was manufactured.)

There’s nothing that can be done there, as it’s very much an age thing.

GBA battery covers are still sold by Nintendo themselves.

Panel 2 – Thomas looks really good, very dynamic pose. I like the way your art is evolving as the story progresses.

Keep up the outstanding work!

I love Tetris! Before I had my GBA (which is now, sadly, broken), I used to love going to my Gramma’s house because she had the original Gameboy color with Tetris XD
Even now, with my DS… I still bought Tetris ^_^

I have a silver GBA in full working order if you wanted it
A load of things are going on eBay at some point, and it’s gonna be one of them, I’ll try and put it up at some kind of reasonable cheap-ass price, it’ll be under my parents thing so i wont know who the seller will be, but it should be up within a month if you still havent found one by then
its in reasonable condition with a few scratches on the screen, none serious
would come with Yoshi’s Island (YAY!) and Harry Potter 2 game, no tetris unfortunately :C
also original manual and some kind of case thing included :D

Aye, I recall my neighbor(who was in high school at the time) having one. The darn thing was HUGE! It wasn’t a handheld system, it closer to a brick!!! I barely recall it being big and heavy, too big for a 6 yr old’s hands. Damn shame too that I never had an interest in the darn thing. I missed out on a lot of good games until I started getting into ROMs, which is what got me into handhelds actually. The first handheld I bought were two GBCs along with Pokemon Blue/Red until two friends borrowed them and I moved before I could get them back. Since then, I’ve bought a GBA and love it. Hope you find a cheap one. =)

I remember the original Gameboy. I had an external chargeable battery pack for it that I left plugged in too long, and it melted the two together, unfortunately destroying both.

Oh I clicked the random button and this popped up. Due to developments in the far future, can safely say Thomas called it, Reggie does have a knack for making his disasters a public affair
