First of all, a mom update: She’s in the hospital while they try to get her balance and nausea problems taken care of. Prayers and well wishes will be cheerfully accepted. She has been lucid enough to text me from time to time, so that’s something at least.

Secondly, these two really are on similar wavelengths. I tried to make that clear when they played the tabletop RPG that this dynamic was already something that could carry over into real life. Mike is naive and a bit timid, but he’s not stupid. He’s not a quick or tactical as Thomas, but he’s generally above average in many ways. He’s got a flair for the dramatic and has the capacity for leadership. He may not be a natural leader, but he’s one of those people with enough foundational elements to grow into it given time. Mike is also artistic and curious about things. He reads and learns in his spare time for fun. It’s no wonder Jess takes to him so quickly since he has qualities she looks for in other people generally. Not least of all is his playfulness and willingness to commit to a bit. He likes the same things in her, plus she’s also flirty and cute. In the puppet arc all these kinds of things were on display. These two are potential trouble because over time they will absolutely begin spurring each other on to be more and more dramatic in the pursuit of fun. If you add Rulette into the mix you have 3 people with very group activity oriented personalities. The kind of people who start parties and party hard, long into the night. In contrast you have Jo and Ed who are a little more reserved in their mannerisms. Although Jo is just shy around new people and things. Eventually she’ll be as bad as the rest of them and it will just be Edward as the lone stick in the mud. That said, he was still willing to join the RPG and play with puppets, so it’s not like he’s stuck in the mud all that far.

I will see you on Friday with the next page in the saga. Until then I hope you have a good midweek. Thank you for your continued support.

As a fellow shareholder in the teddy bear body type stock; he’s not far off… I am happily married ; and ironically enough, my wife is also called Jessie XD. But she is the furthest in personality from the comic Jess here, so there’s that.

As to your family updates, we will be wishing her luck and hopefully she can beat cancer. I eagerly look forward to Friday comic and to your life updates.

Snappy patter delivered at high speed. Feels like a ’30s screwball comedy or a better episode of ‘Gilmore Girls’. Nice.

I’m not gonna tell you to tell the doctors how to do their jobs, and I certainly am NOT trying to make you more anxious, so PLEASE delete this comment if you have no need for personal experiences with the same complaints that your mom has. I do hope she feels better soon.

SPOILER ALERT!

A sudden bout of nausea and imbalance withOUT a (cold) fever or (cold) sweating is usually either one of two things.
It’s usually either an acute inner-ear infection or a cerebral infarction in the cerebellum. I had the latter.
When the nausea and imbalance came together (or nausea before imbalance) it’s mostly “just” an inner-ear infection.
My nausea was because of the imbalance: my whole body felt like I was standing on a boat at open sea in a small storm whenever I was standing or sitting up, and the only way it would both subside was if I were lying on one side, the other side just made it worse.

They can do a quick eye test to eliminate or confirm suspicion (follow the finger) and if the eyes jerk while tracking the finger, it’s usually a sign of an infarction so they can do a CAT scan and MRI to REALLY confirm.

Luckily an infarction in the cerebellum, while something to avoid for next time with blood thinners, usually heals up pretty well (I recovered for 95% and only show signs where I forget some words when I’m exhausted).
If she’s already on blood thinners for a different ailment she had before, it’s less likely to be an infarction.

EDIT: the neurologist told me the either/or situation when I had it. So that’s how I know.
Don’t know if he was speaking truths but have no reason to doubt it.
