Hm, they could make Brooksie act like his dad instead. It could go right or wrong in any number of ways, all hilarious.

Is Reggie really that inept? I might need to go back and read, but I don’t remember him doing anything as heinous as all that.

I might just be cherry picking how awesome he was during the hotel stuff.

I know we had some problems early on but he seems to have grown. There’s a reason why he’s my favorite character he’s probably had the most growth

It’s a lot easier to measure growth when you start closer to the bottom than when you’re close to the top.

With that said, Reggie was dislikable early on mostly because of his awkwardness and desire to meddle negatively into other people’s business – that said, we also didn’t get a lot of context to Reggie’s character either, so just like what’s happening here, all that exists is what we’ve seen. It’s more difficult to call Reggie nearly as terrible on a second or third read-through as well, as you start to realize his mannerisms don’t change so much as the light we’ve viewed them in with context.

There have been incidents mentioned like the microwave fire, but ineptness seemed to be an early trait that was rather quickly discarded in favor of him having baggage instead. Not that this is a bad thing.

That said, this is all coming from a managerial perspective, and I don’t recall Reggie doing anything particularly laudable in the workplace beyond taking extra shifts, and he was aggressive in his pursuit of the shifts at that while making it clear to anyone who listened that doing so was a means to an end. Not exactly something that ingratiates you toward others.

For the most part, I believe it’s been implied that Reggie is a bit of a walking disaster, although we’ve only seen a little bit of it.

“Yeah, but he has to do things worthy of praise first.”

This is where the creativity comes in. And you have to praise things you want him to do more of: he’s never late to work, ambitious, shows initiative, is willing to try new things. If properly done, these things can be an asset to the team. Right now they’re being applied selfishly and detrimentally. However, a good manager can keep such a loose cannon aimed in generally the right direction. And that’s what this conversation is about.
