For something I wrote and drew mostly on the fly I feel like I managed to get the point across in spite of my failings. That’s not to say that this scene has one specific point to make. Perhaps it would be more accurate to say that I showed a perspective that you wouldn’t see on the surface. If I had chosen to show Patricia’s perspective I’m sure it would pull audience opinion in yet another way. Narratively and tonally though I would hesitate to show her unvarnished perspective. Not only because it would be a bit much, but also because her mind is much more alien to me than Thomas’s is. If you were to skip over the Speed Of Memory pages Thomas’s reaction might seem strangely forgiving given the general color of his character. That said he has shown a capability to be forgiving, or at least the idea of being open to it. He is passionate, vengeful, stubborn, and emotional. In this situation, without the context added by the internal workings of Thomas’s memory, it might seem like he changed his opinion very quickly. For someone like him though it may take merely a few seconds of introspection to pivot to a new, or revised, position. If this were Reggie he might well not look inward until after feelings are more clearly hurt. Well after an interaction has soured and both parties have left and dug in to their positions. In any case I have too much to do to site here and try to edit and re-edit my words in an attempt to explain the intricacies of my perspective on writing.
I hope you had a nice weekend, in spite of the recent losses, and that this week will embrace you gently. For my part you can expect another page on Wednesday, as always. I will also have the pages up on Patreon at the very least. I know some of you look forward to reading an entire month’s pages in one long go. Anyway, I must attend to other matters. I will talk to you later.

Rulette: Stop calling me Sir.
hehehe! she most definitely has that peppermint vibe going for her
Somehow I feel like…her dad should have had more to do with the original conflict that occurred…like he accused Thomas of stealing from his store maybe almost got him arrested or even accused him of doing his daughter while underage or something with higher stakes than what we’ve seen so far…plus there was little explanation about why patty told him to lay low for a while…but this does put us squarely in area of reconcilable feelings with maybe the whole you radio-silenced me for 10 years being a bigger problem than the actual incident itself.
Although maybe that is what was Indicated when she said that…
Pretty sure Thomas had her dad’s measure after ten minutes of working in that shop. And having high expectations of everyone, he probably felt betrayed by Patty’s sticking with her dad (seeing it as a choice instead of a necessity on her part) as much as by her not *actively* taking her friend’s side. I think the way all this is presented makes perfect sense given what we’ve been shown of Thomas’s character.
Jackie, I love the way you write. Thanks so much for making this webcomic!
Tangentially, this reminds me of the flashback with Reggie and Brooksie before the corporate management group when all that happened.
Your entire framing of this has been beautiful, the stupid little wet eyed-like smile I gave with the “transition” from frame two to three gives me hope, and I think you pulled off the countless thoughts in a fraction of a second feel very well. Kudos!
Seconding this. Good work!
I’m kinda glad I didn’t comment until now bc after coming back and re-reading the arc a few times looking at the last frame I’m just thinking “END HER”
That last panel of her, beautiful!
Panel 2: “So that everyone’ll be curious and want to see what’s inside! Something that’s all mine!”
Panel 3: (Massive honkers)
