Well, here we are again. Do I have anything to say worth hearing tonight? I don’t think I do. Makes me wonder if other webcomic creators talk to their audiences anymore. It seems like that has fallen out of favor over the years. You know, there’s this channel on Youtube called ClownfishTV. The hosts are a married couple and one of them used to be a professional cartoonist. Many a year ago they used to advertise on this very comic, when Project Wonderful was still a thing. Now they are talking heads… Screeching head, in one case… They pivoted away from comics when it was obvious that American comics, in aggregate, had culture cancer. They saw the writing on the wall way before most people and got the hell out. I can understand why a person would if they had the foresight to see where things were going. They have a family to support and all of that. Strangely I didn’t see the signs the way I usually do. Also, for me, it’s always been about making comics. This is my goal. Sure, I’d like to do more with my IP, but I want to make comics. That’s what I love. I’d like to make my own comics better, but I accept my limitations. Really though I should have jumped ship and pivoted to something else if I wanted to have financial security, but I just can’t give up making comics. I’d rather be dead than stop. My brain is wired incorrectly though. It has caused me all manner of trouble, but I stick to what I want as much as possible, and to the detriment of everything else. In the end though, we all end up rejoining the abyss we sprang from, so what difference does it make? I don’t want to shout about how Star Wars is ruined, or Doctor Who, or any of the other things that have been brought low over time. It doesn’t seem like much fun, no matter how much money it makes. Then again, having all the money allows you to be completely evil, seemingly without any consequence. Maybe I’m looking at things the wrong way. I think I still just want to make comics though. Yes, I think I will just do that more and not think about other stuff.

If you want to help me deny reality please do so with the links above. Some money is required to do anything at all, regardless of if you want to be doing it or not. Anyway, I’ll see you on Wednesday, if fate does not conspire against me. Until then, be well.

I don’t think many comic artists talk to their audiences much anymore, maybe just you and Jake from Modest Medusa–and even Jake kinda keeps things close to the vest. I’m unsure if the world is changing so much as the methods of communication are rapidly evolving. However, as you probably know, I am both overly optimistic and sadly sheltered; my opinion is probably not in line with sociological fact.

Either way, awesome comic- and I appreciate you trying to keep talking :)

There are at least a couple webcomic authors that still take the time to respond to almsot every single comment they get. Honestly that cultivates a really good atmosphere on the site, and also gets various pun wars started regularly.

I can’t respond to every comment because my nature is combative, so I take innocuous comments as insults and react accordingly. I’ve found it’s better to only respond when I’m absolutely sure of intent.

To be clear my intent is always good, my execution not always as clear. As my mother loved to remind me on a daily basis: “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”.

I read this webcomic to brighten my day as I come in to work. I’ve been off work for the holidays and today is my first day back. Highlight of my day to read through the backlog of Between Failures. Thank you for keeping it going. And I certainly appreciate the commentaries, it’s a shame that it’s fallen out of favour.

Right? If you don’t like something why would you spend your time slagging on it instead of talking about things you do enjoy.

As for blog posts/commenting, I think you might be one of the few webcomic artist I still follow that still does them, or honestly ever did them, for whatever reason. Though I’ve cut back hard on what I’m reading, so datapoint of 5.

Ashes in the mouth is also a concern when dumping remains from an airplane. If you don’t get the cremains completely clear of the cockpit you’re getting a face full. And you will have to vacuum out the airplane when you land.

I guess that, for scattering ashes in windy areas- I should wear my wrap-around sunglasses, + my dust mask. What a thought.

“Beware of any job that requires new clothes”, [as Henry David Thoreau] said, I guess. :O

Glad they are thinking about this beforehand. Really amused by the dude reference. Maybe she saw it and blanked it out?

Do what you need to do. If comics drive you, we’re happily here to receive them. If you start a vtuber channel or political diatribe channel I’ll certainly take a watch, but I prefer the comic.

I haven’t seen a lot of films with Sam Elliot in them.

What do some people find romantic, or attractive, about him?

Please tell me.

I seriously want to know.

More to the point: what do people like in him, as an actor? Is he good in action films? Is he good in romantic films or other films?

Back in April my family gathered to finally scatter my Dad’s ashes at his favorite fishing spot.
Wind wasn’t a factor. But my little nephew (just 2 at the time) sticking a handful of Dad’s ashes in his mouth was. ;)

We alway said he had a little of his grandfather in him XD

I know what you’re talking about, man. I used to be a movie reviewer. Then everyone and his mother could do it on Amazon so why bother looking for it?

And yes, I’m familiar with Clownfish. Yipes. I can really only stomach it when it’s just Kneon. Geeky Sparkles has way too much screechy, as you suggest.

Several members of my immediate family had their ashes scattered from a boat in San Francisco Bay. I don’t remember wind being a problem with any of them, but the good thing with scattering from a boat is that if the wind’s coming from the wrong direction, the boat can change direction. 8-)
