I saw Cowboys & Aliens tonight. Sussinct review: A shitty movie held together by an exceptional cast.
That’s about as boiled down as I can get it. Every time the movie is about to start getting decent it changes course dramatically and kills the momentum it was building. It’s a sadly uninspired work, in spite of the title, which appears to be the best idea the author had, and things declined from there. That said, the cast makes it watchable. If it were any other people I doubt the average person would make it all the way to the end. It’s about on par with a Resident Evil, or Doom.

I don’t know about that. I can’t compare “Cowboys & Aliens” with R.E. or Doom because I haven’t seen either, but I quite enjoyed it. Maybe it’s just me, but I think the movie was pretty good. I won’t say it’s a great movie, and it’s not one I need to watch again, but I think calling it shitty is a bit harsh. I do understand where you’re coming from, but I think the way the story was written really worked for what it was. I wouldn’t call it uninspired myself, but that’s just me.
I will agree with you on the cast. Absolutely magnificent all the way through.
P.S. Compulsion to grammar/spell-check: “Sussinct” should be “succinct”.
P.P.S. Love your comic.
I love that Thomas knows John is a man-whore.
Thomas just gets more and more smug with each panel.
…. “an historian”?
I know that is correct in some places, but I just can’t abide it.
“An” comes before vowels. “H” is not a vowel. Neither is it silent.
As such, I refuse to ever legitimately use “an” in front of any derivative of “history”.
You read this wrong. Apparently, John talks with a British accent. I’m not sure which, though, as I would have thought we would’ve figured out if he were speaking in Received Pronunciation. Or maybe he just said this one thing with an RP accent.
Actually the Daniel Craig Cowboys and Aliens is a remake. I haven’t seen the original, but it does exist.
There may be a similar film in existence, but it isn’t a remake. There was a copyright claim filed against the film over a similar comic story.
