719 Prepare To Die.

For some reason I posted the page and then forgot to write anything to go with it. I’ve been answering emails and somehow my brain decided that meant I had written enough, I guess. XD

I got another Smurfs book in the mail today. It’s mostly Smurfette’s origin story. You can tell the writing is very old because it’s pretty sexist. It’s still a good story though. More or less the same as when they tell it in the cartoons. In fact, the cartoons are pretty faithful to these early comics. Way more faithful than most things are to their source materials anymore. i wonder if it was a condition of the licensing. In any event it’s neat to see how the style evolved over time.

I love Brooksie and this is the perfect move for her. I have to say, I think Random C is on to something with her choosing that response b/c his name was Wesley so she went with a line from a movie with a Wesley. If he doesn’t know the movie I’m betting Jo just ignores/ninjas him :)

…Am I the only one who was disappointed that Brooksie’s movie reference wasn’t more…..obscure? Like, ‘The Forbidden Planet’ kind of obscure?

It was actually a difficult choice and I ended up going with this because it lead into a fun scene that doesn’t work with any other movie. Lines from several movies were up for it, but Carl from Ginger’s Bread convinced me that this was the best.

Brooksie wants to be the bad guy, they have more fun and less restraint. Wear the Black cap Brooksie! Role Reversal!

I’m really kind of hoping Jolene somehow establishes this as her way of testing new hires, like a weird movie trivia version of Carol’s “10-second Stupidity Test”.

I’m waiting for my next big movie order (several at a time) to get The Princess Bride on Blu-Ray. I already have it on VHS and DVD.

As I recall — and it has been a while — early in the movie, Inigo Montoya challenged just about everyone he met with this line.

I’m sorry, but no, you recall incorrectly. He was talking to Wesley and telling him about his reason for becoming a swordsman. He simply told Wesley what he was going to say when he met the man that killed his father.

He did, however, ask if Wesley had six fingers on his right hand.

@Fauxlosopher–

Absolutely — TMC ran TPB Sunday morning (2011-01-23). Ate up 2½ hours I had planned to do something else, but it was for research, and you were quite correct.

I was waiting for this. As soon as i saw his name was Wesley. And i have to admit, Brooksie as Inigo really fits. Although i wouldn’t peg the guy named wesley as Wesely. Nope, i think that has to go to Thomas, although there’s no way in hell Carol is Buttercup. I see Mike as Fezzik. I think if i had to place him, Reggie would be Vizzini… hmm. Ed, Carol, Nina, John, and Jess… Garr! Can’t think! *hides under rock*

Oh, and i’m new here. Pleasure.

The casts doesn’t parallel The Princess Bride very well. But that’s okay. Anybody want a peanut?

I can see Thomas telling Carol “There’s a shortage of perfect breasts in this world. It would be a pity to damage yours.” based on how he’s reacted to seeing her in all her glory as a part of the date storyline.

WOO HOO! lol i finally found out how to comment… ;-_- took me long enough
anywho…. Startled Brooksie is Startled. She uses MOVIE REFERENCE. Player Wesley is confused. Confused Wesley loses his Swagger, and lowers Guard. :) lol
he had no idea what was going to hit him…

okay, i forget, which movie was the original for this quote? i mean the true original I count the “you killed my master” ones as well

I know you, you must be that little Spanish brat I taught a lesson to so many years ago. You’ve been chasing me your whole life, only to fail now? That must be the worst thing I ever heard. How marvelous.

Good heavens, are you still trying to win? You’ve got an over developed sense of vengeance. It’s going to get you in trouble one of these days
