This is one of those pages where a character kind of gets screwed because the next page isn’t there until two days pass. So for the time of its original posting the scene doesn’t play out and they look worse than the full scene makes them seem. At this point I’m basically used to it, but I do sometimes wish I could work a little bit faster so I wouldn’t have this happen quite as much. Regardless, Jess is a flirt and she’s going to do that because it’s in her nature. Mike is kind of getting a nice day where a few women give him way more attention than he’s used to. He clearly yearns for female attention, but often when we get something we want we aren’t sure what to do about it out of shock.

Anyway, I’m too tired to write a giant essay about whatever nonsense is in my head at the moment. I’m gonna maybe take a little nap before I do some more work. I will bring you more comic on Monday. Until then have a nice, safe, weekend.

Monday’s update should be just three panels of Mike emanating smoke out of his ears.

Like, the after-sex scene in the movies, when the man is smoking? That would have to be some… well, smoking hot sex, if Mike would emanate this much smoke, and on his own no less.
Also, things would have to progress really fast for that to happen. ;)

Joking aside, if Jessica is being serious and not just play-flirting or messing with him, that begs a question, how does Jo feel about open-ish relationships? (or alternatively threesomes, but Mike is her boss, so the problem with that one would be obvious, even if she’d actually be up for it)

Lol, I feel like the existence of gals like Jess can partially justify the existence of guys with anime protagonist levels of density with regard to reading potential interest from women.

Having the dense dudes grow up around a friend like Jess would go a long way towards explaining why they’ve learned to just assume any sort of flirting is just friendly platonic banter.

Plus it’s just plain safer for a guy to assume anything short of an absolute yes is an absolute no. Protective ignorance. Miss can use her Big Girl words if she wants more than banter.

And all the kvetching and shaming language in the world coming from people a safe distance away from said situations who are also not the ones paying the price of a guy being wrong will change that.

She gives he shit because she’s utterly blind yo hoe she feels. Jess knows exactly what she’s doing with make so it’s different.

Yeah, great, she’s flirting with a guy she hardly knows, who’s lonely and looking for a girlfriend, while she herself is in a relationship. Jess is just in it for attention, and doesn’t think about who it affects—look at how she’s using James.

Mike strikes me as the kind of guy who isn’t necessarily clueless, he just doesn’t know how to handle flirtation so he just kind of ignores it, or politely deflects it.

He just likes alliteration.
