I feel like what part of this page you find funny says something about the individual, but I’m not sure what. For me the funniest part is Victoria’s last line, but I felt like the page needed a reaction from Mike that wasn’t visual. His response borders on being mean. Where Mike is in the story Reggie is still a lot more like a problem to be solved than he is to other cast members. He’s certainly less antagonistic to Mike now, especially since Mike did his family such a kind service, but there isn’t the kind or respect you give a truly competent manager. Part of that is that Reggie has such a narrow view of what competence is that he doesn’t see the positive things that Mike does even if he directly observes them. Mike is much more of a soft power leader, and arguably not much of a leader at all where he is right now. At the same time he’s progressed quite a lot and made solid connections with most of the staff. He’s also very young in the grand scheme of things. Being a store manager at 24 isn’t nothing. He’s younger than some of the other characters, but you generally don’t get handed a store unless someone sees some competence in you. Even a store where you send managers to fail has the hope of them rising to the challenge as part of the equation. Anyway, it’s one of those things that I find interesting about constructing a page. Where is the part that is the point of greatest value for each observer?

Anyway, I’m pretty tired, but I think I’ll go see what mom and dad are up to since I can’t get myself to calm down. I hope you have a nice weekend. On Monday I will bring more of my little story to you. Until then, be naturally and artificially flavored.

Getting a little bit of the Addams sibling vibes there. The fact that their father is so in love with their mother, and the shape of their house all lend further credence to the whole Addams sibling rivalry, plus Victoria’s use of Elvira quotes….

First thing that ran through my mind was a scene from “Roseanne”.

Jackie: “We have been planning Mom’s death for *years*!”
Roseanne: “PLOTTING. Not planning.”

So Vicky has tried and failed to commit Reggie-cide.

I’m pretty sure she’s joking.

Family are allies against the world in their view. They’ll feud, but actually try to remove each other from the equation? No, that’s weakening their clan.

Hang in there and get some sleep if you can!

I’m sure I’m not the only one who can cope if you switch to a less-frequent posting schedule while you help care for your mom.

I wonder how Mike is going to explain Reggie’s temporary absence due to encouraging him to tame the feral Alex?

“Extended break”, perhaps?

Every panel has a lot to like, but the biggest chuckle for me was Victoria’s last line. I’m not entirely sure Mike took her meaning, there.

For me, Mike’s last comment combines with his look and doesn’t come off as mean but as a little scared and confused. He definitely doesn’t want to antagonize Vicky. As an aside, it’s good to see Mike back!

OK, maybe it’s the shipper in me but am I the only one here who could see Mike as a potential rival for John with Brigette and/or Victoria?
Whilst not on the level with the flirting with John, both seem (to me at least) a little flirtatious in this interaction (Brigette may have just been so to get Mike on her side of the Beary Fun Pizza debate).

I also feel like someone (depicted as being) straight-down-the-line like Mike isn’t perhaps naturally attuned to the kind of person who, even jokingly, brags about how Machiavellian and scheming they are. It just feels like a characteristic he wouldn’t particularly appreciate, let alone actively LIKE in someone, so his response comes off perfectly to me as ‘uh, OK… fair enough’. Takes some of the wind out of their sails, but harmlessly. The kind of response a reasonable person would give!

That said I like Victoria (and Reggie), and their more arch, (often jocularly or performatively) snooty characters add a lot to the story- probably less fun to know IRL(?)

But are either of them as cunning as a fox who’s just been appointed Professor of Cunning at Oxford University? The world (and this Blackadder enjoyer) waits to see…

I like how she specified the last name. Like she’s asking a government bureaucrat for one file out of a million, not for 1 employee out of, what, 25? Surprised she didn’t say “Reginald” too.

It is amusing that Mike has such a hard time viewing Reggie as any sort of cunning though perhaps more than that their parents had the courage to try a second time after possibly such an abysmal failure…but what is amusing me the most is that Reggie is drawing so much of an audience that he may consider acting in porn and we have yet to determine whether the stockroom is rocking yet….>3

My 20s were pretty cool.
You mention being a store manager at 24 isnt nothing.
Im pretty sure I qualified to be chief engineer of a nuclear submarine at 24.
