This page came out a lot more visually interesting than i first imagined. It’s a weird transitional page and I was off kilter when I set it up, but sometimes it’s just better to make an unimpressive page than to waste time trying to come up with gold and just make something. And yet I just sort of like the look of it. Regardless I’m just pleased it wasn’t a total wash. I don’t always get a lot of lead up time for new pages and even though I have a general outline for where things are going the connective tissue is built on the actual pages most of the time. In many ways every page is a minor victory in the ongoing war of creation. I never allow myself to believe that victory is assured. I’m sure there are people who don’t believe the results are a victory, because they kindly take time from their super successful efforts to tell me so. Truly the kindness of anons is wonderous.

Anyway, I can’t stay here rambling tonight, so I’ll leave you to your fate. I hope you have a nice start to your week. I’ll see you on Wednesday. Until then, use your nail to bounce on enemies.

Well, I’m 4 or 5 hours late so you’re probably asleep, Jackie, but I did say on Friday I’d comment if no one else had when I saw a page so here we are.

I’m not entirely sure why Alex expects Brooksie to be at the gravesite ceremony, but either I missed something or that will be explained later. It’s good to see how everything is beginning to converge upon the store though. Many plot threads begin to weave together mwahahaha

As for Brooksie’s attendance, in my part of the world it is not uncommon for for friends or co-workers to attend such a ceremony. It may be more common for a small town but it is a community thing.

I always enjoy seeing Rulette. She reminds me of several people of whom I have fond remembrances.

IMO, it’s an interesting idea:

who would you, the theoretical you, invite to a memorial service, aka a celebration of life service?

It can be hard to, 1] invite people, and then, 2] to get most of them to come to a memorial service, since- for a lot of people- they don’t want to think about death, or the possible deaths of their family + friends, so they wouldn’t want to come to the service.

If I were Reggie, I’d invite everyone that I could think of that I knew wouldn’t act like a jerk at the service.
He might get a crowd, if he did that.

Some of his friends might show up just because of the “ghost stories” factor, since this ceremony is for some people, who [were murdered?] in the Wild West era, or something.

I wonder who will show up at Reggie’s ceremony?

Jackie, you do not make “total wash” comics. This is following Between Failures from about #100, plus >$1 patreon subscription talking.

In comics news, the former(?)* curator of the SF Cartoon Art Museum, Andrew Farago, has been arrested for covertly recording the genitals of his 20 friends and their children while they were in his bathroom.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/us/articles/f-cartoonist-allegedly-hid-camera-045822134.html

He’s married to Shaennon Garrity, well-known in the field as creator of Narbonic, Skin Horse and others, and also an editor of Fly Me To The Moon. So one degree from web comics, I guess.

* It’s a bit unclear when Farago departed, Wikipedia just says “spring 2026”. The, ummm, recording event was on May 23.

Nothing to say on the actions within the comic at the moment, but I will say before reading your posting I was vibing with the cool vs warm color, the majority of blues/teals/greens with nice sparks from hair and skin tones, so not sure if that was part of what you meant but that’s what it did for me.
