My brain filled in more wordplay reflexively with Her Wholewheatness, although I doubt Beary would be springing for anything remotely health-marketing-adjacent.

In case it’s helpful to anyone, I’d gotten a $10 heater from Amazon that has 200W and 500W settings, which has proven good for personal heating. With this cold snap, I found that putting a lit candle behind it super-charges the heating as it draws in the hot air from the candle and heats it further. The candle on its own has most of the heat just go to the ceiling but the space heater circulates it nicely. Of course, make sure the candle is placed so it won’t tip or anything like that.

Never seen Alex so exited, even when she was about to get laid. :-)

Still have power, but I suspect that’s because Helene took out all the trees between us and the electrical substation (which is only a mile away). Silver lining, I suppose.

…you know, I can say about the same thing. No hurricane, but close.

Back in 2021, we had this straight-line derecho thing go through and blast so many trees that it took three days to get the power back on. But since then, thank God, we have not lost power for more than a couple minutes.

The power company started actively clearing anything that even leaned toward a power line after that. It’s been really great!

We lost some gorgeous ancient oaks that absolutely should have been removed decades ago. In my subdivision all the lines are underground, but just at the top of the hill (maybe a quarter mile from my house) is where the above ground lines were. If you drove down the bypass from the electrical substation through the next town and then several miles after all of the lines were down with trees on them. Miles and miles of power lines on the ground/

In a lot of places, especially suburbs, power companies have right-of-way easements for powerlines through private property. Legally, they have the right to chop down anything within range of the lines. A lot of them didn’t enforce that for a long time, and then there were some bad storms. Now they’re more hardass about it, at least in Pennsylvania.

When I worked in a utility call center, our electric company was doing the full build on a Habitat For Humanity house. I volunteered for a framing day, and listened to many stories of items the field crews had to clear out, or run over, in easements to restore outages.
Then, my disbelief when I was directed to help construct a cute wooden storage shed in the easement.
Still not as dumb as my experience the year before on another Habitat house with Best Buy.

To go along with, her holiness, Pope Pizza- I think this Beary Fun Pizza store should make doughnut holes,…you know, as a way to celebrate, “Her Holey-ness!”
;D

“Oh MY Gawd!”, is an expression I’ve heard in certain areas of The United States.

Does Alex have ancestors, or a past, in places like: New York state, New Jersey, or The East coast? That would be fun! :)
