I guess I don’t have anything of particular importance to say as I post this page. Or maybe it would be more accurate to say that focusing on the work has put other things out of my mind at present. I guess I’ll just stop wasting time and wish you a pleasant Monday. I hope your week goes well and we can meet again on Wednesday. Until then, keep your stick on the ice.

I guess you could say John better think. Think about what he’s trying to do to me.

Why? Alex is special to him.
No, she isn’t. She’s a unique opportunity he had, sure, but it’s not as though they actually have years of memories together or anything. And he still didn’t find her that attractive, which might have ruined it anyway.
John finds Alex beautiful.
John explicitly rejected Alex because he found her unattractive. He all but said “no fatties” to Brooksie, even though he did say he liked her otherwise. Maybe he’s come around, or maybe he thinks he could love her DESPITE not being attracted to her, but either way, their relationship has never been more than that.
Alex doesn’t often talk about the differences she finds in the two guys but here she reveals something Victoria.

Yeah, not sure why I’ve seen so many comments along the lines of John and Alex were somehow destined to be together, they have years and years of super-close friendship, etc etc. I never had that impression, even though, as someone commented, their first appearance together apparently implied an existing association (I don’t know the strip number)… at any rate, my impression was Alex found John attractive but, in line with his (former?) characterisation, John wasn’t attracted to Alex’s, uh, embonpoint. Any road, John missed the boat.
Considering Alex and Reggie have already been intimate with each other and neither has shown any indication that they dislike being with each other, I’d say John’s chances with her are dead in the water.
Reggie will blow it, I’m sure.
… or Jackie has an entire storyline planned out culminating in their nuptials several years from now. How the heck would YOU know? Anyway, John has several other prospects. ‘You always want what you can’t have’… well, looks like John can’t have Alex, so too bad. He’ll get over it.
How are you sure? Reggie’s come a long way since the comic started. I’d argue that he’s had the most character development by far.

He’s presumably used to hot bimbos who are probably just as likely to start ghosting when they got bored as he is.
Yup, in a way it’s just a form of mirroring.
The difference of course is that it is mean and evil when he does it.
Yeah, weird how that works, isn’t it? Hmmm. Probably because women can weaponise words like ‘creep’ etc to justify it. Men need to get in on that action. I believe in equality.
