I used to hesitate to do a page like this. Filling empty space with words is most of my job, but sometimes silence can say more. Of course different people will take away different meanings from this moment. A creator has to relinquish their creation to the audience though and let it become theirs to interpret. Early on that was something I didn’t understand quite the same way as I do now. Now I know to just say what I say with my work and try not to color it for the observer unless I’m absolutely compelled to do so.
Anyway, I don’t have anything much to say. I need to get some patreon stuff out before midnight and, as usual I left it to the literal last minutes. At this point I think the bulk of the support there just wants the comic to keep going and anything extra I get out is a bonus. It’s difficult to maintain anything for a long time, let alone 19 years, and I think the most dedicated among you understand that. Especially in light of the fact that webcomics this old are extremely rare. In any case, I hope you have a nice weekend and I’ll see you on Monday. Until then, duck and weave, duck and weave.

BECAUSE ONLY GOD FORGIVES!
If you remove the world bubbles it looks like she is wearing the dumbest helmet. Which I could easily see a Warhammer Astardes wearing.
…well, now I kinda want to give a squad of Sororitas her and her friends’ haircuts.
Sculpting them from greenstuff or modeling them for a printer sounds like a real pain, though…
Never really noticed the similarities between Vicky’s and Maddi’s haircuts before, with their builds and bangs being different, but the sections drooping from their temples, besides lending a certain stylistic resonance, would be an absolute bitch to keep from snapping off of a model that size, while the realist in me struggles to reconcile Bridgette’s loose hair with a professional combatant…
Maybe because there aren’t word bubbles to distract from them, I don’t think i’ve noticed how similar yet different the Boothe siblings are. They look related – green eyes and black hair have to be a really rare combination. And we’ve seen their dad which is who Victoria gets her nose from, so it makes me curious about what their mother looks like. Pale skin, green eyes, but Reggie’s nose, and any hair color, I think their dad’s hair was black but I could be misremembering, I know his eyes were blue though.
Also, I’m fairly confident Alex appreciates candor, so at least Reggie has that going for him.
Sometimes it seems like people don’t get that apologies have degrees. Not every apology is as urgent as “I’m so sorry I cut your foot off.” She DID bring down the mood. So she offered a small apology. Perfectly valid as far as I’m concerned. But then, maybe that’s my own lack of social understanding talking.
It’s not that simple. It’s both situational, *and* cultural. There’s two scenes that come to mind that relate – Heinlein’s _Space Cadet_, where “pie with a fork” gets explained, and another scene in Moon’s Serrano/Suiza series, where Esme explains the difference in Altoplano customs about apologies, and how rude Familias Regnant customs about them – the casualness of them – seems to her.
“At this point I think the bulk of the support there just wants the comic to keep going and anything extra I get out is a bonus. ”
That’s how I feel.
I just want you to be appreciated for the comic.
Subnautica is 75% off on Switch.
You know I think the more I see from Reggie the more I like him. Sure, he might have the tact of a raccoon locked in a china cabinet but I think his heart is ultimately in the right place.
The placement of the crucifix behind Alex’s head is interesting (hee hee about the helmet comment), especially compared to the last page. hmmm
And yes, support for the comic’s continued longevity is warranted.
