1746 All Out.

I was feeling sick yesterday. Like, I don’t even know what kind of sick, it wasn’t like the flu, or even a cold, but it was enough that I couldn’t function very well at anything. I think it may just be allergies. Or maybe they are just compounding symptons with whatever made me feel bad. In any case it feels like the area between my shoulders is bruised. I think I rolled my stress ball too hard right there trying to make myself loosen up. Although that’s abnormal. It usually doesn’t bother me. Maybe my shoulders were just too tense and it made them hurt. Nothing I usually do helps me relax right now for whatever reason. I just feel wound up like a spring. It’s at times like these I almost wish I was in to drugs. Experiencing every experience in stark contrast is not always the best. I’ve always avoided that kind of thing, but I understand why people would want to dull their senses that way. Consciousness is a double edged sword. I stole the filter from the living room and replaced it with my old one that no longer seems to work very well. Hopefully if I use the big filter I can reduce the level of pollen or whatever in my main space to a degree that will take the edge off my eye and ear problems. Here’s hoping at any rate.

If only girls like that existed when I went to highschool?

Who is to say that they didn’t? Too afraid to stick out and enjoy what they really wanted to, trying their damnedest just to fit in.

And any cheerleader that admitted that to a card game playing, book reading nerd would suddenly have found instant popularity with an entirely new section of the high school populace….not to mention about a hundred suitors.

Nerds are some of the most exclusive, mean spirited people in the world. Gatekeeping is a joy to them.

Too true. Many may act like the “noble knights,” but once challenged, they have to “test the fake geek girls.”

…which always seemed self-destructively stupid to me and would have even in high school. Im paraphrasing someone when I note that the more trivial the matters the more viciously humans will fight over it.

My HS days predated Magic the Gathering by 15 years, but we did have pen and paper RPGs. I was so lucky that my groups always had a few girls and pretty ones at that.

And, yes, the relationship drama that went with that. :)

The thing is, when “outsiders” band together, they want to keep the illusion that their “difference” is what prevents them from ever hooking up with a girl. So when a girl that does share their interest shows up, it becomes a threat to their entire worldview, much more so than anyone else’s. They have to contend with being dicks, and they don’t want to admit that to themselves. In fact, they feel even more entitled to a woman’s affections because they think they are the “nice guys.” So, they take it out on the girl, and put her through the wringer, and any wrong answer fails the test. Now, I’m not saying that all of us are like that (they are in the minority, thankfully), it is still something that still exists, and nerds can contain some of the most vitriolic environs to date.

Back before Google and teh Intarwebbez, there were four states of consciousness; waking, sleeping, and dreaming, … And drugs. And there were three states of knowledge; book knowledge, ignorance, and Urban Legend. So one could just ask, “How many Pokemon are there?” If the prospective Geek answered with the correct number, they had bonifides, if, “Hunh?… Idk like … 20?” Then toss them out on their ear. Our D&D group was happy to have girls play, even if they wouldn’t date us, we were glad to have them at the table.

Balls were meant to be played with.

Remember to bounce your balls and to play with your twangers. And if you haven’t got any balls, ask a friend if you can play with his.
