What is there to talk about tonight? Nothing much of importance apparently. I guess I won’t worry about it and just let you get on with your life.
As always, I direct your attention to the various support links scattered around the page. If you enjoy what I do you can directly help ensure I can keep doing it. I hope the middle of the week treats you well. I will return on Friday with more comic. Until then, accept no substitutions.

Just wanted to say I enjoy your comic, and I appreciate it even more now. Feels like a lot of comic strips have lost the plot lately, and you keep telling the same story we tuned in for. It’s much appreciated.

All the webcomics I liked became something other than what they started as and annoyed me. I’m glad you appreciate my dedication to my story rather than trying to preach to you.

I also appreciate your consistency, and staying within the world you built. You include your own interests, but they’re done in a way that meshes well with the world itself. There’s nothing I look at and think “God, where is this coming from? How does this even exist or fit into this world?”

Please don’t ever replace the cast with robots.

Sometimes I do feel preached to, but it’s the inspiring sort of preaching, with lessons like “being true to yourself pays off”, “stepping outside your comfort zone is good for you, and fun to boot”, and of course “make a move on your sexy co-worker, silly goose”.

I’ve dropped more than one comic whose author decided they needed to use their comic as a platform for their political ideology. (Protip: If they decide to do this, you cannot reason with them.)

I’ve also dropped at least one comic that evolved (I would say “devolved”) from what it once was.

The lot I read now are mostly comics like this who deliver the goods routinely and seemingly effortlessly, though I know that isn’t actually the case.

Aw look at Reggie being all graceful in victory. And John being all… not quite able to accept a woman’s agency still.

Oh hush. All he said was that things might have been different if he’d actually tried something. There is nothing invalid, problematic, microaggressive, or dog-whistle-ish about that.

Yes. Yes, John thinks Alex OF ALL PEOPLE has no ‘agency’. The rich and confident woman who does basically what she wants all the time with a big smile on her face lacks agency. John thinks this because of what a shrinking violet she is, always deferring to his manly superiority. Oh wait, that’s NOT at all what happens, and what DOES happen is she runs rings around him and he’s entirely aware of that fact as shown in every interaction between the two of them. Come on now.

I love reading this story and seeing how everyone’s grown. The way they’ve gone from strangers, or in some cases, enemies, to friendship, is the real highlight for me. There is a deep, quiet hope in this story that lights up my day every time I check back in and catch up.

Seems like John is able to joke with Reggie regarding the situation with Alex so until shown otherwise I will take that as a positive step of him processing

lookit our boys, growing as people.

These last few comics have been sweet, but it also makes me a little bit sad. It feels like many longform webcomics have a problem where they have believably flawed characters who improve over compelling story arcs–but then what? How does one keep things interesting without introducing drama artificially or moving on to new characters? @Jackie I am curious if you’ve thought along the same lines. I just started reading recently, I like what’s in the archive and I hope you can keep it up.

I’ve never had to worry about it much because life has plenty of trials it throws at us all the time. I simply look to life and my answers are there. All the characters have motivations and every goal is impeded by the things that impede everyone from success. I also started with the thought in my mind of “Can you tell a good story from the point after the lovers get together?” I’ve already proved that you can.

I really like this comic series for its ability to keep up the same plots and not add onto characters willy nilly. Great job dude, this is awesome.

“Arrogance is counterfeit confidence.”

I’m glad to see Reggie learning some humility snd gaining some confidence.
