It’s funny to me that John is starting to lose the thread of Victoria’s literary simile. Or is it a metaphor? I always forget which is which. Regardless it’s not the way John usually thinks so he’s not used to keeping the idea in his head.

Anyway, I’m tired so I’m gonna cut it short tonight. You guys have a nice… What is it? Wednesday? Yeah. I’ll see you on Friday. Until then, be a ball to be around.

I may be totally in the weeds here, but is lshe com ing ojn to John?

I suspect she’s leading into it. Not only did Vicky run the idea past Alex, but now Alex has paved the way with her prompts for John not to miss opportunities on account of being hung up on her.

I hope not. I ship him and Maddie together.

Not sure if that’s a great dynamic. I feel like John would subconsciously tank that relationship by continuously underestimating Maddison, or grow tired and start ghosting her. Although that would be hard if he’s already in the friends group.

John needs a level-headed woman to keep him on his toes, both intellectually and morally.
Not saying he’s a bad egg, but he just found out he’s pretty much of an asshole to the ladies, so a quiet but (I suspect) firm lady like Victoria would help him shape up his life.

Kinda like how Carol is constantly testing Thomas’ complacency.

That assertation isn’t without merit. But him under estimating her once or twice, doesn’t discount the viability in my personal opinion. This is like the second or third time they’ve met if I recall. There is room to grow into a healthy dynamic. That said Victoria isn’t a bad option either. I think someone else said it before, but the cast generally gels well with each other. So you can pratically pair most folks with anyone else.

Yeah, I gotta give you that, too.
There’s room for growth, and Maddy has been shown to be surprisingly insightful. The ‘surprisingly’ coming from her otherwise… what’s the word? ditzy? demeanor. So yeah, who knows. I’d rather see Victoria end up with John, though. If only to give Reggie yet another chance at character development. :’)

And there’s the fuzzy ears. The “furrying” has begun.

Also I think Victoria is throwing some hints at John.

Good.

Wouldn’t be the first time John has lost track of the metaphor while talking with Vicky (2139 as the reread is recent enough I can track this down still), but glad to see he’s going with the flow. The chemistry still feels good and realistic even if at least initially it wasn’t intended (2140 writeup). Kudos!

I feel ya, I’ve apparently lost all sense of time this week. I woke up Monday only to discover it was actually Sunday. Then I woke up on Tuesday only to find out it was Wednesday.

Bubba is at the police station being interviewed. One of the officers says, “You say you were with your cousins when one of them shot you. Would you care to state what happened?”

“Well, we were having a good time drinking; when my cousin Ray picked up his shotgun and said, ‘Hey, are any of you fellas wanna go hunting?'”

“And then what happened?”

“From what I remember … I stood up and said, ‘Sure, I’m game.'”

So watch what you say John.

Poor, poor, oblivious John. It’s been pretty apparent from the first time they were alone together that she’s into him, but he just can’t see it.

At long last, she’s finally throwing subtlety out the window.

So I’m picturing that scene from Lady and the Tramp where they kiss from eating the same spaghetti noodle, but it’s a breadstick…

and John is nervously wondering how literal she was about “guarding his holes.”

To be fair, he should have been worried about what she meant by that as soon as she said it. I mean, there’s no to make “guard your holes” not sound foreboding.

True, but now perhaps it shifts from a more general warning to a personal threat. Especially if she starts stuffing long, thick shafts (of bread) into his facehole…

Yep.
But maybe I’m reading too much into Vicky’s [breadsticks, + holes] comments.

To paraphrase Freud: “Cigars can be tame images. sometimes a cigar is just a cigar”, and sometimes a breadstick…is just a breadstick.
:)
