I lost my retro Gears figure. I got it not long ago and I was so excited to get it. Gears is one of my all time favorite Transformers. Somehow I managed to lose the damn thing and I’ve been looking for it while doing my cleaning for several days. I’ve been doing this stuff for so long now that I don’t really form specific memories about it. It’s just vague remembrances of putting things in containers and moving them around. I have a vague memory of putting it somewhere and thinking “When retro Brawn gets here I’m going to want to know where this figure is.” AND THEN I DIDN’T BOTHER TO MAKE NOTE OF IT. When something I want to see is lost I have this weird personality quirk where I instantly become completely obsessed with it. To the exclusion of nearly all other thought. Which is why I have learned to remember where everything is so that doesn’t happen. There was a period of days where I was distracted by other things going on and I’m worried that I might have accidentally thrown the box it was in away. I usually write trash on boxes so that I know that I checked them first, but I’ve been looking so long now that I’ve begun to second guess myself. Anyway, I’ve gotten a lot of stuff compressed into fewer containers now so hopefully I’ll run across it soon. It was so hard to get and I don’t want to buy another one, especially now that the prices have increased. It’s an ironic loss in that I was looking forward to that figure in particular for so long it’s the last one you would expect me to lose. I’m so wildly annoyed with myself.
Anyway, I hope you have a nice weekend. I’m probably going to spend mine cleaning and obsessing. On monday I can let you know what happened. Until then, small parts not for children under 3 years.

Sounds like a horrifying creation, but I guess I am a little boring with my desserts.
I can relate to the loosing-obsessing cycle easily. My mind cannot rest until I figure out where the thing I am looking for went. My wife lost a pair of green leather boots about 15 years ago and I am still upset I remember it, and it wasn’t even me who misplaced my own stuff!

(Oh man I’m really looking forward to seeing what she does with those desserts, I want some inspiration to wreak sweet sweet havoc in the kitchen)

Anybody else notice Thomas’s shirt change color? I figure he got so flattered to be included it bleached it pure white!

When I was 55 my marriage was over and it was time to move on. I had a few boxes that I had been carrying with me since I was a teenager. I suppose at one time whatever was in them was important to me. However at age 55 I just tossed those boxes into the landfill. Whatever was in them had not been needed in decades….

Which retro gears? The OG transformers gen 1 Gears?
I can’t recall if it’s part of Age Of The Primes, but it’s based on that mold. Or maybe the previous imprint. Anyway, it’s the modern toy with a face sculpt and colors that match the G1 toy.
