John tends to fall into these bouts of self pity. It clearly must be some kind of coping mechanism since if you look at his life in totality he isn’t someone who gives up. Even as he gets down he keeps moving ahead. Probably because he didn’t have anyone in his corner for so long that he just learned to push through his feelings because his survival depended on it. He’s been on his own basically since he was 17, so it’s not like he’s weak. It’s more like he processes failure is a somewhat immature way for lack of mature role models. Then again it might just be a quick of genetics. People just cope differently sometimes and the reason isn’t clear. I’m sure he’ll figure it out.

It’s almost 15 minutes past posting time so I’ll leave my outside musings there for now. I hope you all have a nice weekend. Hopefully you will arrive back on Monday fresh from your time of rest. Failing that maybe you’ll just have had a nice weekend. In any case I will be here waiting. Until we meet again, distributed by Bimbo Bakeries.

To paraphrase Daria there is nothing that pizza can’t make better.

Which kind of pizza? New York, Neapolitan, or Deep Dish?

Wait, New Haven isn’t on the list?

On the off-chance that this isn’t actually a pisstake, is there something special about New Haven pizza? Enough green pepper rings to look like ivy? Save the Yales?

It’s an American style of pizza.
It can be found in The USA, + in The UK, [+ in London, England, in the UK].

It’s a style of pizza, with some sub-styles.

Cheers.

I guess when you associate shacking up with someone as being the thing that gets you chased out of your own home before you’re even an adult, you probably have a weird view of relationships that makes stable, long-term commitments hard. You might prioritize getting your rocks off, which probably also means you prioritize physical attractiveness very highly. It all tracks, to me. Then again, as much as we’d like to pretend we can all move past it, attractiveness does have an important place in relationships, unless you’re asexual, or 80.

Oh, for goodness sakes, the last thing I needed was another character to enjoy in this comic. Thanks Jackie, now I’m getting to where I really like Maddie!
Lol, in case that comes off as serious in text form.

Okay, so Alex is dating Reggie, not John. But Alex didn’t have to stop hanging out with John as a friend.

I’m under the impression that he hung around with Alex and Brooksie together, like before the comic even started. But Alex and Brooksie are both now out and about more, living their lives, and poor John is left behind. That’s how I see it, anyway, maybe I am wrong.

As Maddie might say:
“Those girls will be jealous of [you], since you have a pizza coming.”

Sincerely- that’s the way to be, Maddie.
Always look for the positive stuff.
:)

He couldn’t be in better company atm. To Maddie, his self-pity is water off a duck’s back and she’s encouraging of his epiphany. Also, inspiring optimism. I really love the way you’re writing this interaction!

A friend of mine once gave a speech in which he listed off (humorously) a bunch of life pro-tips.

One of them, roughly paraphrased, was this: The secret to world peace is beer and pizza. Think about it! When was the last time you killed someone while having beer and pizza with them?
