Shirts & such.
Ko-Fi.

First of all, a huge thanks to those of you who took pity on me in regards to my large dentistry bill. You were far too generous and I appreciate it.

Secondly, I added a Gremlin Carol image to the t-shirt store. If you want to be defended by her click that link and choose that image for a shirt, or whatever. I’m not exactly sure how the process works because they don’t offer shirts in my size.

Thirdly I bought a couple of PS3 Dualshock3 batteries on Amazon’s prime sale. It’s not important in any way, I just wanted them to work if ever I decided to finish playing any PS3 games I have. If you’ll recall none of them would work right the last time I tried because a Dulshock3 is not wired to simply work if it has power supplied to it. Power must pass through a battery that can hold just enough charge to keep working. A design flaw if you ask me. The battery works so far but no light comes on when I set it to charge so I’m not sure if there’s something wrong with the controller or what just yet.

Anyway, that’s about all I have worth saying. I’ll see you guys on Monday. Until then, Wizard needs food!

Who was Thomas’s previous redhead and what happened with her? (or him, I’m not judging, although Thomas didn’t show any inclinations in that direction, unless I just missed them ;)

PS controllers requiring a battery to work isn’t a flaw. It’s a design choice, made to ensure ensure planned obsolescence. I know – I used to work at PlayStation hardware support. It’s the same reason they artificially block DS4 controllers from working on PS5’s – they can, but they’d rather you bought a DualSense.

I hate corporate crap like that.

That’s an old problem with poorly-designed computer equipment, and one that won’t go away. It’s like the all-in-one printer/scanner that you can’t use the scanner because the printer is out of yellow ink.

Yeah, I’m still pissed at HP that they bricked my flatbed scanner by not providing a driver when whatever version of windows I had updated. I think there was eventually a third party driver but by then I had moved on.

Is Carol shaming poly people and also ignoring an other woman’s advances? I hope she’s not heteronormative.

The root for “normative” is “normal.” So what’s wrong with being normal (the opposite of which being abnormal)?

… Because I’m pretty sure the very premise of “Heteronormative” is that it’s fabricated to other everyone that isn’t hetero (and therefore ‘normal’). Like, the very argument you make IS heteronomativity at work to persecute people. The problem isn’t being ‘normal’ it’s the belief that heterosexuality is the only ‘normal.’ Calling someone heteronormative isn’t even saying that they are hetero, or normal, it’s saying they buy into an ideology.

Strictly speaking heterosexuality is the sexual standard for our species. There are plenty of people out there who get hit on and don’t think anything of it simply because they are not attracted to the same sex and so don’t perceive it as such. T-Ray was somewhat rude but I do think that the original comment is also somewhat rude for shaming Carol just because she couldn’t perceive she was being hit on, while also showing the slightest hints of persecuting her by calling her potentially heteronormative.
I am personally of the opinion that people should be allowed to think and feel what they want so long as they are not being malicious. Carol is not being malicious but by your own definition the original comment could be perceived as attacking her for holding beliefs contrary to their own.

“Heteronormative” isn’t an “ideology” and it wasn’t designed to “other” those who aren’t straight; it was created BY an ideology and designed to other people who ARE straight. Like, god forbid you assume an average man, chosen at random, is attracted to women, even though there’s a 98% chance that he is. I don’t care if people are gay or bi, it’s cool, my roommate is gay, but this mentality that it’s “persecution” to operate under the assumption of whatever is most likely is a sign of a persecution complex. My cousin is gay, and if someone tells her “Hey, there’s a cute guy I want you to meet,” she’d just say “Thanks, but I’m not into guys,” not “How dare you other me by assuming I’m hetero, you bigot!”

I once met a woman at a dance who invited me to the hotel pool the next day where she and friends were staying. At one point later, when we were bg and gf, she related that she took one of her woman acquaintances (who I found of no appeal or interest) aside and laid down the law. “He came here to see me!”

Reader, I married her. Plenty of other reasons, but I was impressed. As is Thomas here, it did feel nice.

That battery thing is why I stopped using PS controllers on my pc, even though I prefer how they feel to the xbox style. I used a ps4 controller for a while that has the exact same issue, and changing out the battery to use it even though I only use it wired has annoyed me so much. I’ve eventually moved on to my current controller, an 8bitdo ultimate 2c, due to later encountering stick drift on an xbox I picked up to replace the PS controller. (this 8bitdo model uses hall effect instead of potentiometer, so that’s one less physical thing to wear down)
