I got to watching game modding videos yesterday. It’s always a bad idea for me because I get these projects stuck in my head but a lot of the time the kits are only available for a short time, so by the time I see them you can’t get them. I really want to mod my old NES so that it can connect with the pins better. It’s old enough that the connection is poor even when well cleaned. The mod is very simple but I can’t get the parts at the moment. I also want to upgrade my SNES, and Gamecube in various ways, but those parts are also not available and/or they are a lot more complicated. I’ve been focusing on my sorting for a long time, so I don’t need to start other projects anyway. I just have this thing in me that wants to do these things.
Recently I got it in my head that I wanted to actually finish Batman for the NES, which I could never do as a kid. I think I own it but I haven’t gone to the basement to make sure. It’s not a game I had as a kid but I think I ened up with one in a box of random games I got at some point. I’ve got a few games like that scattered around, like both Ghostbusters games, Bionic Commando, Yoshi, and Turtles Arcade. I only ever rented them as a kid but they fell into my hands as an adult along the way. Batman isn’t available on any service so you either have to pirate it somehow, or get an old cartridge. I thought it was neat back in the day but I didn’t understand what I was supposed to do at all. Anyway, I got it in my head I wanted to finish it so now that’s a thing for me.

Yeah it’s akin to offering a famished person a small candy in more ways than one. Sure, it’s *maybe* better than nothing, but what they really want is the entire meal.

And Evrina was recently… for lack of a better word, ‘accused’ of refusing to confront her feelings for him.

For the NES: I recommend opening it up, removing the stock pin connector and take a dental-pick-style tool to pull the pins and bend them slightly to be more firm against the cart while also cleaning each one thoroughly with alcohol-dipped cotton swabs.
I would not recommend buying a replacement connector (the stock one uses gold in the pins and can be bent back into shape) or that weird new tray mod that gives you a transparent console (a transparent NES ruins its aesthetic, IMO).

Man, I came to cordially *hate* that game.

It almost always took me forever and a day to work my way up those electrical towers. And, like you, I never finished the game. And I wasn’t a kid ;)

I liked the inner monologue bubble at the end… but it took me several rereadings to notice there was also one in panel 2. No outline was great, but the smaller font size so there’s a lot of white space seemed also critical to noticing immediately. The lack of the little arrow diddy worked but wasn’t the noticeable part.

Sweet Lord, did Jess actually get through to her? I sure hope so, these two deserve some happiness and I think they can find it with each other
They’ll need some distance too if they’re going to keep the business working, but maybe Jess and Jo can help with that too…
