Ramon is probably the person Evrina is the most honest with. Not that she isn’t honest generally, but she’s honest with him about things she wouldn’t be honest about with anyone else. She would tend to hide the fact that she finds Carol extremely attractive, as best she can, with someone else, but with him she just admits it. She has likely admitted every crush she has ever had to him, which must be unpleasant for Ramon on some level since he has been clear that he wants a romantic relationship with her. Even though they are fine with their situation it would be fair to call their relationship toxic. More for Ramon than Evrina, but still. If they were more mature, or logical, or something, they would not be in the situation they are in, but generally people aren’t like that. In the absence of a clean, painless, solution they’ll pick one that’s as close as you can get. There’s also the fact that Evrina gave up one relationship she valued to some degree for Ramon’s sake. So he means quite a lot to her and she will make a personal sacrifice for him.
It’s complex. People are difficult. It’s just part of the system.
If it hadn’t been for the other stuff that she’d been through on this day she would likely be a lot more composed, but as it stands she’s compromised emotionally and not in charge of herself the way she would have been if Jessica hadn’t pestered her so much earlier.
You might well ask yourself “Does she feel the same way about Rulette?” since she meets the same criteria as Carol in virtually every way. Almost assuredly. Having spoken with her long enough that Rulette felt safe leaving her store in Evrina’s hands we can assume that she has come to terms with Rulette not being into girls. Or at the very least being into guys much more than women to the point of it not being worth the effort. I think it would be safe to say that if the chance ever arose Evrina would put her mouth all over Rulette for as long as humanly possible if given the chance.
I suspect that people will get stuck on the idea that Evrina has a type of woman she likes the best and not understand why she likes Jess so much, or Jo at all. People seem to forget that you can like a lot of different things and traits in spite of there being a hierarchy you are aware of.
I like curvy women, for example, but every woman I’ve ever been with has been petite. There is more to preference in a relationship than physicality. All types of bodies have good and bad points, or rounds.
Jess seems to like small women, primarily some shade of brown, based on the available evidence, but she also sees things of value in other kinds. Evrina and Jo have a lot of traits in common. More than they don’t probably. Evrina is much more outgoing and Jo is a lot more timid, at least until she feels safe. They are both very amorous, playful, and smart though. Jo is attracted to a lot more kinds of people than Evrina.
