960 To The Shadows!

I used my Nintendo shop credit to get Mutant Mudds for the 3DS. I hesitated because everyone kept saying how frustratingly hard it is. I don’t like frustrating things. I can get frustration from any number of sources in my life. I don’t need it in my down time too. The thing is, however, that difficulty is relative and, apparently, people I know are unskilled pussies. I completed the game 100% in two days. Two days of casual playing. Enjoyable, casual, playing. I actually finished the last challenge expecting there to me another set of levels. Don’t get me wrong though, I died a ton of times, but the thing is that Mutant Mudds is properly designed. When you fail it feels like it was your fault, not because the game has crap controls, or the enemies are cheap. Your bad timing, or fumble fingers, is what did you in. That’s the difference between real challenge and bad, frustrating, game design. I was genuinely dissapointed that there wasn’t more to do. Also, the game had good music, which helps.

I like the art style of Dillon’s Rolling Western, but there’s no demo. At least I don’t think there is. Anyway, I like the look of it, and it’s by Nintendo, I think, but I’m not convinced.

The guy that draws Scott Pilgrim was Tumbling about the game having updates and stuff. I asked if there was a chance that it might make it to the 3DS, but wasn’t replied to. Tumblr is not good for that sort of thing. It made me wonder who you would start pestering to make something like that happen though. I feel like it has a better shot of happening than the Megaman Legends 3 petition that has pathetically been waved at Capcom over and over. Capcom is getting a little dickish lately. It’s really unfortunate. At least 50% of the games I own are from Capcom… Anyway, the point is who do I start bugging to get a port of Scott Pilgrim VS The World on the 3DS? Who should I enlist to help me? How do I activism? There must be other people who would like to play it outside of the prohibitively expensive chambers of XBOX Live. And there’s no way the 3DS can’t handle it because it’s basically a glorified flash game.

The color version of SPVTW is out soon, or out now. I’m tempted. I have it in black and white… but I do like colors. I wonder if there will be a digital version…

A little dickish? Capcom are master tossers.

Their PR guys have been stalling on a yes or no for translating AAI2 for months, just to eke out a few more months of selling their customers the same Street Fighter game again and again.

This is going to end up with two smacks or two kisses, I’m not sure which.

Why not both for both?
Either pairing could result in either situation as well.
1 – a smack
2 – a kiss
3 – a smack then a kiss
4 – a kiss and then a smack

And who does the what to the whom is also open for speculation …. so many possibilities and even more possible outcomes.

I could tentatively get behind a(n eventual) kiss in the case of Reggie, since he’s shown he has some actual respectability underneath his Rimmer-ness. With the right experiences, he might actually clean up well, psychologically ( a possibility further supported by Nina’s recent comments). Though I admit that is it stands now, I’m still more rooting for Ed/Nina.

Wes, though… is kind of the opposite of Reggie: personable on top, scum underneath. He’s the kind of guy who doesn’t become a better person so much as just get better at getting away with his skeeviness. I would not wish him on Jo, or any of the female cast for that matter.

Rimmer-ness. I think I like that analogy. There are several instances of Rimmer behaving quite admirably, hell even the whole alternate Rimmer hero thing where Rimmers throughout the multiverse save the universes repeatedly and talk about smoked kippers…

Er…

Kinda stopped a digression there. Anyway, it’s a good match. Reggie’s less of an uptight prig than Rimmer, but about as gleefully cowardly in an odd, quiescently honest sort of way.

As to Wes… Not much development on him just yet, but we’ll see. We know he’s more dangerous than he appears, and subtle enough it’s not likely to be obvious to the others any time soon (especially not filtered through the Reggie), but it should be interesting to see what comes up. Almost makes me want to start up my amateur social engineering experimentation again… Although should I do that, eventually I’ll run out of states to be banned for life from.

“Stoke me a Clipper boys, I’ll be back in time for tea!”
Last Rimmer going off to be Ace.

Thank God they never televised the US made version…

I think that it’s odd that Jo seems to have the beginning sign of affection for both John and Ed. Nina has obviously shown an interst in Ed, and I think that Reggie won’t be dating material for her no matter how much improvement he shows, after all, who wants to date someone who reminds them of themselves? Wes is a douchebag.

Yeah, I don’t get when people complain about things being “frustratingly hard” whenever, ya know, it’s skill based, and it’s very plain to see a mistake…

Ghosts and Goblins, Battletoads, and the like? yeah, they have some issues that might cause problems (like P2 being frozen/dying for a stage in battletoads)… those are frustrating. things like Dark Souls or King’s Field? Not in the slightest.

You wanna know what’s REALLY frustrating?

Watching someone else play the original Portal.
(Nobody in my family could even get the ORANGE PORTAL)
