924 A Mighty Shield.

The cottonwood trees are… Actually I don’t know what to call it. The cotton they make is flying around, getting on everything. It makes my allergies act up, which is probably what triggered me feeling bad the other day. Every allergy medication I’ve ever tried makes me sleepy. This is in addition to the sleepyness that the allergies themselves and depression make me feel. I’m certainly not a very active person, but having my activity level lowered even further is really something else. Also, being sleepy is kind of foriegn to me as well. I’ve never been good at just sleeping at the drop of a hat, but at the moment I can see how the other half lives. It’s kind of nice, in a way, but I always wake up from allergy naps feeling very disoriented. When I fall asleep while drawing, or what have you, in a normal situation I tend to wake up ready to go again. I’m resisting the very strong urge to sleep even now. I don’t know where I’m going with this.

The other day the PC forgot all my photoshop settings. Every so often that will happen, but I don’t know why. It’s done it on every computer I ever had with every version of photoshop I ever had. It’s not a huge deal, it’s just a pain to fix it back the way I like. Photoshop also started crashing again, which I thought it was finished doing. It seemed like it was perfectly sorted, but I guess not. I just don’t understand these devices sometimes. I haven’t been majorly screwed by a crash so far, but it’s just a matter of time. in 5 years or so I’ve only ever lost one complete page of work. It is a heartbreaking experience. Teaches you the value of saving often though.

Mr. Ambiguous knows what Thomas is saying.

As for the allergies, best of luck to you. You seen to have reached an impasse as well, since being active would help you with the sleepiness, but then being outside would trigger your allergies, making you more sleepy… i can’t think of another solution other than to move.

Why does balloon shirt keep reminding me of Wrath from Full Metal Alchemist D:…that smile is creeping me out…(and by FMA, i mean the first series, not brotherhood)

Well, technically Brotherhood would be the first series since Brotherhood was written to better match the manga but it’s all semantics really. In answer to your question, though, I’d guess probably because of the skin. The blue hair, pink balloon shirt and “Tone-Loc droopy” eyes are kind of throwing me off…

Kehehe, reminds me of Pollenic Girls Attack… O.O’ … =.=’ I have problems. NSFW folks.

I don’t know what’s worse– that you felt the need to bring them up or that I know what they are.

Save your workspace when you have it how you like it and next time photoshop throws a hissy fit you can just set it back to the workspace you want. Does it to me sometimes too and that’s the easiest way to fix it.

@Crave–

I’m so glad we don’t have Cottonwoods here in sub-arctic Connecticut. The first three ‘scrip antihistamines my doctors prescribed kept me up when I was supposed to be sleeping and made me drowsy when I was supposed to be alert. I use Claritin today, but I know that not everyone’s metabolism reacts the same way (I used to go out with a girl who would nod off after taking Sudafed — or caffeine).

In Re: Photoshop: I’ll bet you have automatic updates turned on. Adobe likes to sneak in when you’re not looking and update your software. I use PS Elements 10 and have noticed that some of the updates affect the settings or return them to the installed defaults. I can’t offer a fix for that, but I like @Plaid‘s suggestion; I’ll try that next time I use PSE.

I suffer the same as you, especially from the cottonwoods, which in my neighborhood are also doing what I call the “beautiful snowfall of grisly death.” I was on and off different meds until I discovered the neti pot. I’m down to claritin only and got rid of what at the time was a nasal steroid (for $50/month after insurance), and I’m having fewer problems than ever. I promise it doesn’t feel like drowning, but be serious about getting the DISTILLED water to body temp, and using the saline packets. HUGE help.

I should also add how much I have enjoyed following your work. Very interesting characters and beautiful artwork.

Hate to be the Spelling Nazi here, but….

Sheild ????

Repeat after me: “‘I’ before ‘E’, except after ‘C’, or when it sounds like an ‘A’, like in ‘neighbor’ or ‘weigh’.”

Or, since this is the 21st Century, use your spell checker of your online dictionary!

That rule is outdated. There are more words that it doesn’t apply to than it does now. Since its the 21st century you should know that.

Yeah, English is weird (eheheh)

Agreed on the fact English spelling is so hard to learn.

I try to be patient with folks for whom is not their first language.

Old joke:

What do you call someone who speaks two languages? Bilingual.
What do you call someone who speaks three languages? Trilingual.
What do you call someone who speaks one language? American.

Most Americans speak less than one…

I speak many languages: English, Spanglish, Southern, Redneck, and Hillbilly. Americans tend to be multilingual, just not in the fashion most are familiar with. :)

For gods sake man. Saying you don’t want to be a spelling Nazi is usually followed by a freindly reminder not a condescending reprimending using outdated rules. Would it really have been so hard to just take a freindlier tone and simply say: “Actually, It’s spelled Shield.”

Voilá!

Did anyone else notice the foreshadowing (pun intended) in the last panel? I’m not going to say exactly; I’ll let you figure it out…
