Maddison’s pizza lust and bear lust know no limit. Pizza is always tasty and bears are always fun. Except for real bears. Although if she had a chance to pet a tame bear she would take it. Maybe there’s a little Slavic blood in her. She is one of those rare people who always know where to have lunch. It’s not a debate. If you ask her she will suggest Beary Fun. If she’s too far from there she will suggest the nearest possible equivalent. In her mind there is a hierarchy of pizza from best to worst. If she can’t get pizza then it’s places what have entertainment like arcades. Food tastes better if there’s things to see and do. She is a simple creature who knows what she likes. This gives her a decisiveness lacking in many others.

I’d better no go off on some long winded exploration of Maddison this late in the evening. It’s only 5 minutes to posting time. I hope you had a nice weekend and that your week will start out pleasantly. I will, as always, return on Wednesday with another page. Until then, empower generations through play.

What about Pizza with bear meat topping? Is that always good too?

Depends on what the bear’s been eating.
If it’s summertime salmon & berries, that’s good eating, but you’d want everything gourmet to keep up with the quality of the meat.

The Megatainment, it calls out to all…; at this point waiting to see if Dawn and/or Lewis are there with a returned job application from the book signing.

Also almost at 3k of the numbered comics, so congrats on that!

Alright, so I missed out on the bonus page thing a couple pages ago and generally I don’t like putting my email to anything so I didn’t comment last time, but here you go.

Between Failures is one of the few works that actively brings a smile to my face or just keeps me intrigued three times a week while also feeling incredibly alive. There’s a massive cast of characters who even if you haven’t seen in a while it never feels like they’re forgotten, because so much is happening and it’s so well balanced. The cast is filled with characters that you can definitely connect in some way to either through personal traits or traits that you admire. The storylines feel like part of a long running early adult, read here as around the start of their 20’s, televised series that never jumped the shark and their fanbase just kept growing. Then you have the art where every single character is so uniquely drawn that you instantly recognize them and it’s a style that harkens back to an older style of webcomic art that hasn’t been changed to match current animation trends so it makes the series feel unique and grounded in itself.

Take all that as you will, dunno if it will help, but I’d love for it to since I said similar over on DA a while back to you after a journal you posted. I also want it pointed out again that I do really think that you do an amazing job with your characters. You’ve added a lot over time, but it never feels like characters are actually forgotten or anything’s lesser. QC made me drop it for multiple reasons and one of them was that so many characters ended up feeling like they were just off having their own stories in their own comics and weren’t part of the larger world. BF has never felt like that to me. Yeah, some characters have their own stories, but it feels like part of a whole rather than something on a completely separate frequency.

Thanks for making Between Failures Jackie, and please keep making it since it’s probably the only webcomic I still read that updates so consistently. Although if you ever need a break, that’s understandable.

…..oh……so I didn’t need to put in my email to actually post the comment. Well…..I’ll just go over here then …………

For about $40…Vicky + friends could hire some of their “furry club” members, to sing [the Beary Fun songs] for 20 minutes, while Vicky and her friends eat at a Subway.

[I] would take that job!

:D

I’m not sure there is such a thing as a “tame” bear. Most of the animals we consider tame have been going through that process for thousands of generations. As best you get a large bitey animal that is accustomed to being around humans and not eating them. Maybe her imagination would overcome it but I think petting a bear would not live up to Madison’s expectation. I’ve not touched a live bear but have handled a bear fur. It was actually rather coarse and not especially pleasant. She is probably much happier with the bears of her imagination.

Accurately put, but I’m curious if “the bears of Maddie’s imagination” are fursonas.

As long as she doesn’t pretend she has a future in ursine animal acts, I think she’s safe.

I like how the first two things are (in my mind) an homage to the narrator in the Squidbillies pilot, and a Douglas Adams quote about the evolved sophistication of thought.

I sympathize with Bridgette here, go to work off the clock no matter what the reason feels like you’re stuck in a rut. I get that Maddison loves the pizza and bear theme (and if anyone takes away that love from her, we have ways to deal with them), but V and Bri deserve a break. Not that they have to go over to God Be With Brew…

I wish I didn’t get sick of food in that way. Half the time, I’m forcing myself to eat for sustenance, so I envy people who can just eat the same thing every day and be happy.
