When will we get to see you in a suit with fancy hair reviewing things?

If this doesn’t happen my disappointment will be immeasurable and it will ruin all my days.

“You’re mean!” – Ice Cream Sandwich

Unfortunately I don’t own a suit, and have very little hair left.

I’m told having very little hair just means it has to be all the fancier to make up for it. Not that I would know, I still have enough hair to worry about a takeover. Trimming it is self-defense more than anything else.

I have a non-sequitor: Jackie, when you envision Reggie, in the jacket he is currently wearing, is there a real life analog to it? I’ve been curious about the … I don’t know what you’d call it, the white fringe?

It’s based on a style of letterman’s jacket that I haven’t seen since I was very young. Most of the time they would be one color for the vest portion and the sleeves would be white, but this kind wasn’t. It had a white collar that you could wear up or down. The collar ended about halfway down the jacket but I’ve drawn Reggie’s extending all the way to the bottom for as long as I can remember. His is also unadorned, but the one from my memory had school logos on the back and a letter on the front if they person in question had earned one.

I haven’t seen one since I was a child and have never found an image of one. It must have been some kind of unpopular variant.

It looks like it may have been a 70s variant:

There’s a blue version that appears in the image search listed as Vintage 1970s Acrylic Varsity Cardigan, which seems to match Reggie’s version really well and even has the white cuffs.

So I think it was likely a 70s hangover as they got rid of older stock, rather than being unpopular, as that era had a lot more variations and it seems like by the 80’s the design we all see now is what stuck, with very few outliers in changing things around or being different.

I would link the blue cardigan one, but it directs to a link on the gem.app, that’s how you’ll know you have the right image when you search for “Letterman Jacket Collar vintage 1970s”

When I was in high school there at least three variants, wool with leather sleeves, wool with fake leather sleeves and all wool with a hood. That was just the band. Athletes had their own variant. A good one would last for years and I wore mine through my freshman year of college. More to the point, you can still get a varsity style sweater like Reggie’s right down to the red body and white placket

I like it!
:D

Reggie’s, unique looking jacket gives this webcomic, sort of a visual-trademark, a trademark that only BF has.

It’s sort of like- Donald Duck’s, old fashioned: sailor’s jacket + flat sailor’s cap.

We [know] that those are Donald Duck’s…jacket + cap, because he’s the only famous, cartoon guy that wears that jacket + cap combination.

The same goes for Reggie’s jacket- we know that this is Reggie’s Jacket…from Between Failures, because Reggie’s jacket has a style- that only Reggie’s Jacket has.
:)

I don’t know if Reggie just took that comment as an opportunity or if he genuinely didn’t take it the way Carol meant, but I like if he actually didn’t. Everyone who’s heard about him and Alex has immediately been like “oh.. i didn’t think he liked… girls like that/you.” But the idea that Reggie hears Carol say “girls like us” and immediately is like, “um you two have basically nothing in common? What are you on about??” is great. like he has a very specific way he looks at people, like he explained to victoria when she found out about him pursuing her friend, and the thing about Alex has always been who she is. – and as a bonus, she also has big boobs and a surprisingly firm ass lol.

Reggie is fully versed in trashtalk, so there’s no way he’s not aware that at least alot of people are uninterested in larger women.

Back when he first showed interest in Alex, Reggie explained that his criteria for judging people actually has nothing to do with their size. I’m sure he knew exactly what Carol meant by “girls like us”, but he deftly sidestepped her question – undoubtedly because it was a perfect opportunity to get a jab in on her in return.

In comics 2428 and 2429, Reggie himself mentions Alex’s physique while referring to Carol as “far from being a twig”. He knows exactly what Carol means.

One of these days I’ll break out of the idea that Reggie has an inexplicable English accent.

Today is not that day.
