Bleh. My allergies are bugging me and I don’t have anything much to say of value. So I’ll just wish you an nice start to your week, and remind you that the various support links are above, below and around the page. Having just done my taxes I verified that last year was the worst I’ve had in a while, which should surprise no one considering all the obvious external factors. Fingers crossed for 2025. Anyway, have a nice Monday. I’ll see you on Wednesday. Until then, I summon dark magician girl!

Dangit Reggie most things are easy and obvious. Really easy. You just don’t notice them because you take them for granted and only notice the hard things.

I was not expecting somebody to have already posted this.

Leaving just the other thing I wanted to say. Reading people is a rough skill to improve because the main way to tell if you’re correct… is also reading people. I think a lot of people convince themselves they’re much better at it than they are because of it.

I think this applies to a lot of skills actually.

Unless you’re autistic like me, in which reading people comes naturally because it’s literally the only way I can come across as semi-normal. Sadly, I have to recognize that the only reason I developed that skill is because I wasn’t coddled as a child, and had a father who wanted me to be ‘fixed’ and had the money to throw at people to do it. I was never fixed, but I quickly learned how to fake it enough for him to leave me the fuck alone, and that involved becoming very analytical and getting good at spotting patterns of behavior.

Nowadays, I can discern whether a person is likely to be a dick after a few minutes of initial interaction and pick up on every mood of someone I’ve known for a few weeks. Not sure if that was worth the PTSD and childhood trauma, but hey.

People want to protect themselves so they try to hide some of what they’re thinking. Everyone does, but some of things are more visible than others. Just got to notice them

Did Reggie do any reading of Alex, or was that simply something which fell into place because he told the cool story (by club rules)?

It probably just fell into place. I’ve randomly made new friends, or got date’s by just talking about things I find interesting. But can’t make a read on someone’s mood, or initial personality to save my life. I usually interrupt the conversation or story I was telling & say “Sorry am I info dumping/rant at you.” Or “Tell me when to shut up.”
