I’m not 100% sure that the Pythagoras joke was created by James Acaster, but that’s the only person I can clearly remember hearing it from. I have a vague memory of having heard it when I was much younger though. Regardless I’m naming the page in honor of Acaster. My guess is that people who don’t pay attention to the blog, or the page titles, will appear in the comments calling me out for not crediting Acaster, which will give me the opportunity to say “Look at the title. mate.” So that’s fun.

In other news, the new washer and dryer have appeared, but we have to wait for stronger people to come and put them where they go. I am too hurt to do it, or be of any use in the attempt. We know a guy who does most of this kind of stuff for us, so it’s a matter of his schedule clearing up. In any case out trips to the laundromat are numbered.

I guess that’s all I have worth sharing at present. I hope you all have a nice Wednesday, and I’ll see you on Friday, knock on wood. Until then, watch the skies!

Wow lol what a relationship to be in with a sibling. Having a sister show your GFs there are “other options” XD

Does she realize just how nice of a brother she has? If my sibling kept doing that to me, I’d get that trash out of my life.

It’s a better story if people aren’t perfect.

Even so, there’s a special place reserved in Hell for people that interfere like that in other people’s relationships. She may not be perfect, but she’s definitely worse than Reggie at his worst now. I don’t care what Jess does going forward now, and only hope she gets her comeuppance by being abandoned by Jo. Jo deserves better.

Agreed. Honestly makes me dislike Jess. We’re all flawed, but deliberately sabotaging someone’s relationships repeatedly, to the point of even seducing one of them, is squarely immoral, not just annoying or like she makes understandable mistakes. Now, if she had just been revealing to Ed that his previous girlfriends were cheating or stealing or whatever, that’s one thing, and I can assume they probably weren’t the most loyal anyway if they were seduced away. But at best, this is like stealing and eating someone’s food that they keep buying and preparing, on the grounds that “I’m just trying to keep you from getting fat.” I mean, really, how did those conversations go; “I’m sorry Ed, I know you liked Blank, but I decided to have a night of amazing sex with her instead, and then she left in shame–I make these sacrifices for your benefit.” If someone I knew kept doing this, not just to me but to anyone, I’d want them out of my life the same way I cut out thieves, cheaters, and people who hurt dogs.

It’s so funny that so many people hate Jess for doing the same kind of stuff a brother or father would do for a girl, but since she does it in a way that’s not male centered she gets vilified way more. A threat of violence is perfectly fine, but removing someone with nonviolent means is bad. Patriarchal hypocrisy is what it is.

Please quote exactly where anyone here said anything like that.

Why? Are you going to destroy me with facts and logic? I don’t need to cite my sources when everything you say and your actions prove me right. Debate me bro tactics don’t work here, Shapiro.

You’re brain damaged. If Ed seduced away Jess’ girlfriends it’s just as scummy as Jess seducing Ed’s girlfriends. It’s the cheating that’s the problem, not “removal by nonviolent means”. If Jess had used words to scare off Ed’s dates that’s one thing, but convincing them to cheat is something else.

Huh? If Jess was a male and stealing his brother’s girlfriends, even if to prove how wrong they are for the other brother, we’d still think he’s trash. This has nothing to do with gender. :p

Nah, what he or she is trying to claim is that Jess was just saving Ed from bad girlfriends, and that if Ed had protected Jess from bad boyfriends by just beating them up, we’d be fine with it because we’re okay with toxic male violence, but Jess doing the “same” thing the “feminine” way is hated because we’re all sexist.

Personally, I wouldn’t try to break up my sibling and their significant other, unless I had solid reason to with actual evidence; and if I had that, I would just, you know, supply that evidence to my sibling, so they could make their own, informed choice. Even if I had the crazy idea of seducing them away, I would only go far enough to get them to agree to some hanky-panky, which I would then take straight to my sibling as proof–I wouldn’t actually bang them, and then act like my night of hot and heavy sex was a sacrifice I made for them. I find it rather sexist to equate femininity with adultery, as if the only way they can get anything done is with their bodies.

Ah. I see. Nope. I’d find Ed terrible for doing that, if he had done that. Though, I’d think the only reason on the physical side of things is if the guys were beating Jess up, then it’s a different situation.

Jess here just didn’t think the girls were good enough. Jess is proving just what she says in the next page. She’s a terrible person :p

Making me think she’s to terrible for Jo now. Jo needs protected. She’s adorable!

You are deeply projecting here. Sure, there was a time and there probably still are places where a man “protecting” the “purity” of their female relative was seen as normal and good, but that time is not now and that place is not most places. Most people now would call it out as gross, not support it. Just like most people here are calling out Jess here for toxic behavior.

That you then go on to assert that what Jess does is the “female equivalent” of sitting on the porch with a shotgun acting scary… well that’s something you really ought to talk to a trained professional about, because a comment section on a webcomic is not going to be able to unravel your fucked up genderisms.

Take it to truth social, fascist. Your quotations don’t scare me & your chugging of patriarchal wang doesn’t move me.

People, please remember that age-old rule of the internet: don’t feed the troll.

This one is clearly not here in good faith. And I say that as someone whose political bent is unabashedly antifascist, antisexism and other forms of bigotry, not to mention anticapitalist. But people who are serious about these positions know there is a time and place to make our criticisms known or make a stand, and honestly, this nonsense isn’t it at all.

Sadly, it’s not uncommon for trolls like this to try and pose as people like me to discredit us with such shows. Thankfully, this one is painfully obvious. So yeah, please don’t feed them. Engaging them only gives them a chance to go on with their farce.

I’ve a vague feeling that joke is older than Acaster(‘s career), though I could be wrong and it *does* definitely have Acaster energy.
