1409 About Damn Time.

I hate to just point out the stuff about this I want people to notice. I have faith that someone will though.

There were things I was going to talk about tonight, but someone went to the trouble of making me furious earlier today and I’ve completely forgotten them. I really shouldn’t even type about it because my body can’t take the vitriolic rage it stirs in me.

I can’t think of the other stuff though… It was something I wanted to ask. Oh, I remember it now!

Do any of you remember when I made the post about the soundtrack for the comic? I think it got lost in one of the server changes. At any rate it was a list of songs I associate with the various cast members, which I no longer have available.

Since there are a lot more people commenting now than back then I’d like to see if any of you have songs you associate with anyone. Just be aware that anything you post with a link in it will get sent to moderation and I’ll have to okay it manually. It may take a while depending on when I sleep. Just be patient.

My boyfriend wanted me to either post here or email you his new tip for when things are getting you down or irritated. Try imagining all the characters of your comic as Vladimir Putin. I cannot personally attest to the effectiveness of this method but he seemed adamant about it.

In the news today, The Blonde Menace, Vlad-Nina, has begun a lightning-fast annexation of Ed’s face, starting in the mouth, and possibly tongue, regions.

I do love the nice touch that Ed’s increasingly reddening ears brings to your scene.
I also like the way that both characters take up more and more of the panel as the page goes on, showing that everything else sort of falls away when you get into a moment like that. It’s the details like this that you do exceptionally well with to build the emotion in a scene naturally.

Next time it’s “Jolene, Jessica, Niña, Ed.” I wonder how long before Niña spills the beans about Thomas and Carol, with special guest Ballcano?

Thanks! And yeah, they both, I think, reflect his personality to some degree, but very different elements of it. I was up with insomnia anyway last night, so it was fun listening to what I thought might work and then hunting up links. Not everything I thought might work did on closer inspection, too.

On soundtracks, I like your choices (especially TBM for Nina), and from thinking on it a bit:

Reggie – After the last arc featuring him, Something About Us, Daft Punk.

Nina – Sometimes Shut Up and Dance, Walk the Moon… sometimes Mad World, Gary Jules. Depends on where she is in the comic.

Jo – Weird Science, Oingo Boingo.

Oh Ed, you gigantic fucking dork. Utterly, completely adorable and Nina’s reaction is 1000% appropriate.

And so with ears that redden when under pressure, a known Weasley trait, Ed’s connection to the Harry Potter series is further reinforced.

Good Lord! He’s more intelligent than Ronald Weasley, and yet still manages to be socially inept and absent-minded.

Well intelligence is not consistent with skills with the opposite gender. Heck, I have a degree and, despite many attempts, I have never been on a date in my life.

I do like the soundtrack you listed. Will have to give the songs a full listen when I have the time and it isn’t 2 AM. I find Nina’s very apropos, and Victoria’s very intriguing considering what little we know of her.

Hope you are feeling better. Just gotta keep putting one foot in front of the other, as it were. I’m still physically recovering from my incident 2+ years ago.

That would be either too risqué for this comic, or it would come off as goofy as the sexual role playing scene on “Dinner for Schmucks”.

I’m afraid I’m too old to recognize all the songs in that list. A few of the songs I would use might have some of the audience reaching for the barf-bag.

I don’t know a lot of these songs but for Thomas, rather than All Sheep go to Heaven I think of You’ve Received the Federal Funding. Whatever that says about me.
I’ve been enjoying the comic for a couple of years, by the way, and would like to say thanks. I’d like to something more as well, Patreon for example but ze times, zey are tuff all over.

I am now so exited about Wednesday’s post I find myself wishing away the week. I want to see Ed’s actual reaction so bad.

I do like the details you put in for the ears, as mine turn red in the same manner, and I notice that the closer the shot gets to the characters, the more detail you can see in their clothing and in them. Subtle lines to show depth make an impact that is great. I wish I could draw with half this detail and make it look decent. Amazing work, Jackie.

Also, about the songs, I can’t think of many of them at the moment because I currently have Sebastian from The Little Mermaid singing “Kiss the Girl” stuck in my head. I’ll try to get back to you on that.

Something tells me that this will make a funny story when they tell their firstborn how he/she was conceived…

People keep saying he’s awkward, but, you know what’s hot? Bluntly saying your intentions, and what you would like, while being clear that you don’t HAVE to get what you want (because the other party gets a say too!).
