Firstly, thanks for all the content suggestions. I see a lot of familiar names, but I’ll be looking into the unfamiliar ones as time allows. It’s been long enough clearly that not all of you know what I use various kinds of media for anymore. I have a lot of racing and intrusive thoughts, especially if I’m going through a period of imbalance. There’s always some but sometimes they get harder to control. I use calm spoken English content to disrupt my ability to focus when trying to sleep. Something Like Dr Katz, especially the parts with him specifically, are in the exact perfect range to accomplish the job. Unfortunately some of the comedians on the show are too loud so there’s some episodes that don’t work. Back before his days as a star John Oliver’s podcasts with Andy Zaltzman were pretty good even though they were a bit more energetic. Now that they have both moved into the more combatively political the magic is gone. A Bit Of Fry And Laurie works sometimes depending on the episode and their individual content is sometimes good too. Todd Barry the comedian is a nice go to, but I’ve heard his entire body of work so many times the effectiveness is greatly diminished. Sheng Wang is a new favorite but he only has one new special that really hits the perfect vibe. Matt Stewart is another great low key comedian. Strangely enough Stephen Wright, who is known for his monotone delivery, doesn’t work at all. Mitch Hedberg is great but he died so young there’s not enough standup with clean audio to work with for very long.
ASMR doesn’t work correctly because it sets my mind into my memorization mode generally and Bob Ross falls into that range. I do use it to calm down and whatnot, but for sleep it activates a vert specific part of my brain that makes me go into learning mode unless it’s within this extremely narrow band of styles.
Anyway, that’s a general rundown of what that was all about. I don’t think I was as clear about it on Friday since I was kind of just rambling to keep myself from getting anxious about something that was going on. Since I work for myself and at home I go through an insane amount of content while I’m doing things. It’s gotten to the point on youtube that I can’t find anything new that I like most of the time anymore. Especially since the start of the “culture war”.
Anyway I’ll stop with that whole thing for now.
I haven’t been able to get my sleeping setup right since I hurt my back. Even though it’s basically healed I can’t get my pillows and blankets situated in such a way that I don’t wake up into an anxiety attack recently. It hasn’t been a problem in a long time but now that I’ve moved so much stuff around I don’t have my little tomb area anymore that kept me from getting pinched nerves or having my cpap mask come undone. I need to get a different kind of pillow for my head that isn’t so wide. What I’ve been doing is piling up pillows and then sticking a stuffed animal under my head because it’s narrow enough that it doesn’t shift my mask. Unfortunately since the pillows aren’t a solid thing they shift if I fall all the way to sleep and that’s when things start to go awry. I had some bindings that were holding the pillows together but they failed and I haven’t replaced them.
huh, they make pillows specifically for mask sleepers. I guess that makes sense. i should look into that some more… So far these don’t look great and are expensive.
Whatever. That’s enough of my bullshit for tonight. You have better things to do than read whatever this all is anyway. Come back on Wednesday for more comic. I look forward to seeing you in a metaphorical sense.

In the last panel, “the” is spelled “tha”.
Huh. I thought that was a slang thing, or a trendy pronunciation.
*shrugs*
If you want content to fall asleep to, give Wirtual’s trackmania videos/documentaries (and then once you are used to it, gameplay/stream highlights) a whirl. Rarely over excited, just interesting enough that the mind wanders, but just boring enough that you fall asleep.
I don’t know if this will work, but- youtube has playlists of Julia Child’s, 1963 + after, TV show, “The French Chef”.
It’s kind of an educational show, but for me- she almost always keeps her voice at one…relaxing tone, + I like listening to the show, when I want to [really, really] relax.
Cheers.
I love that first frame!
VERY cool angle.
Nice job!
Then Vicky says:
“Alas, poor Beary! I knew him well…”
