Went to the dentist today for a cleaning. It was mostly uneventful apart from the usual things going to Kansas entails. My wrists and fingers started bothering me though. I’ve never had them feel like this before. Kind of feels like the joints are swollen and stiff. Like what it feels like when I want to crack my knuckles, but they won’t when I try. I wonder if I’m getting to an age where arthritis is going to be a thing, or if it’s some other problem. It doesn’t hurt it’s just uncomfortable except a little bit of pain in the meaty part where my thumbs are. The left hand is worse than the right for whatever reason. I dunno. I really don’t like when my body does some new unpleasant thing. I’ve got an extensive list of stuff I don’t like it doing already and would like to shorten it ideally…

So is the peanut gallery where they hang pictures of Charlie Brown?

It’s actually the audience of the Howdy Doody show.

Can confirm, personal experience, “What time is it, boys and girls?”

Can you make a connection to other meds you are taking?

I recently started having similar symptoms periodically–pain and stiffness, sometimes swelling, which started in the hands and fingers, and would flare up, peak and fade. Over a couple of months, it spread to all the major joints in my arms and legs, and at the peak, added flu-like symptoms. I was tested for everything from hypoglycemia, rheumatoid arthritis, gout, lupus (family history), to Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, all negative.

I finally noticed a correlation of these flare-ups with periodic recurrences of acne– we now think I might have suddenly developed a sensitivity to the antibiotic I was prescribed to treat it–we are still testing it, but it looks like something I took safely for years, turned on me (it may have caused some liver damage as well).

I hope you figure it out soon–arthritis, even pseudo-arthritis, is no fun. I deeply empathize, and also hope it doesn’t get bad enough to interfere with your art..

Jackie, any chance on this trip you hit a change in barometric pressure and relative humidity? That kind of stuff can cause temporary joint discomfort, especially if there are old injuries.

Yep its one of the symptoms of what I said about parasites. I cured every damn symptom of mine with it: check which p can cause said symptom, take meds to kill that p, voila.

Sounds like gout to me, I have it and when it flares up, it feels like I need to crack my joints, especially my big toe joints, and my thumbs. Get checked for high levels of uric acid. Here’s some info…

Gout is a painful form of arthritis that occurs when high levels of uric acid in the blood cause crystals to form and accumulate in and around a joint. Uric acid is produced when the body breaks down a chemical called purine. … A gout diet may help decrease uric acid levels in the blood.May 18, 2018

I was going to mention gout. Thank you for doing so, since I know a few people who have it, and it sounded like Jackie might have the same thing.

I really LOVE Evrina’s expression in the second panel.

It looks like she’s saying: “I’m amused, but, dude, don’t talk about me like that.”. :D
