I debated the dialogue in the first panel for a lot longer than I usually would. I knew I was going to do the bit. but exactly how much I wanted to play into the specificity of their dynamic was at issue. In the end I decided rather than just being “normal” about it I may as well just lean into it, since at this point it’s not like I have any desire to attract the kind of people who would criticize me for writing my characters as true to the reality in my head. These two have learned things about each other and will continue to do so and their relationship will become more and more specific to them, in spite of what outsiders might think of as normal ways to phrase and even do things. Carol knows that language is a key point of Thomas’s sexuality and will continue to exploit that because a key point of her sexuality is how he reacts to her beauty. The idea that he will now be thinking about her all day amuses her endlessly. I’m certain that many of you understand exactly what’s going on and the ones who don’t either have never, or will never experience it.
Thomas hasn’t fully worked out what things get Carol going, so he’s at a disadvantage, but eventually he will and their sexual arms race will tap into the speed force. At the moment, however, he is overmatched. Now he must suffer the exquisite turmoil of thinking about the one you love all day long because you can’t have them right now.

I however must suffer not having thousands upon thousands of supporters who wing money at me like the whore that I am, dancing upon this stage like a poorly trained chimp. I hold out hope that more people will discover a deep love of my work and use the links above to help be continue making it. Such is the danger of hope.
