I think I’ve spoken about my ongoing collecting of Mattel’s Mad Scientist toy line from the 80s. I have a set of all of the monster molds from the various sets now. I had used a substance called Zubber to make lasting copies of these figures, but it didn’t give me results like I had hoped for. Not terrible, but also not getting the fine detail of the molds. So I had been on the lookout for some substitute. The molds aren’t put molds, so I avoided liquid options since they would have to be pressed closed faster than the liquid would run. A lot of the two part silicones are too runny, or begin to cure too quickly. I wasn’t able to find a happy medium.
I bought a set of Elmer’s glue Squishies to see if their “mystery mix” had the properties I was looking for. Each set comes with pour molds that are simple enough that a child should be able to use them with ease. It seemed like a decent possibility and in the end, though there was some runoff, it worked perfectly. Minimal bubbles even with a lot of stirring, lots of color choices with the inclusion of various kinds of Elmer’s Glue on the market, and I was able to find an industrial source for the two part mixture at a fraction of the price of branded refills. Eventually I will be able to produce as many of these figures as I want in whatever style I desire. So, at long last, my search has ended. I’ll risk linking the comic’s twitter feed so you can look at my results. Photo for reference.

Anyway, I don’t feel like talking about anything else that’s going on. I’ll leave you to your own devices. Hopefully you will have a nice start to your week and will be able to return on Wednesday for more comic. Until then, mix well before pouring.
