BFPF003 Blind Man’s Bluff.

Well, my sick leave continues with this page from Satalite09 from Magical Girl Neil. I hope you’ve all wandered over to thank him and check out his work. He really came through for me. I’ve got several more days of guest comics from various people. As much as I’d like to just jump back in I’m not physically capable of it. I have been able to get a little work done, but it’s taking longer than usual since I have to rest periodically. All of this has been very hard on my body.

A significant amount of money has been raised to help me out. The link to the go fund me is here. I honestly resist doing stuff like this, or kickstarter, because I’ve never wanted to see an illustration of my unpopularity. It’s the same reason I almost didn’t do Patreon. Finding out exactly how important you are to people is daunting. I would never have guessed that you would raise over a thousand dollars. 4K seems like total insanity, but I guess I need to leave some space open for hope. Between gofundme and Patreon I will at least be able to pay down my debt in a reasonable amount of time, while still handling the cost of daily life. It may take the better part of a year, but eventually I’ll win out.
I want to especially thank those of you who chose to go the Patereon route because it gives me a chance to give back and also recurs, if you choose to keep supporting me. I will do my best to offer up my services in whatever way I can for you guys. Don’t hesitate to aks for avatar drawings, sketches, or whatever. As long as you are patient I will get to your requests. If you’re on the fence here’s the link. It’s been a bit dry recently, since I’ve been out of commission, but I try to make any requested wallpapers, drawings, and whatever a few times a month. If you do request a sketch I’d like permission to share it with the other Patrons, if you don’t mind. If it’s too personal I understand.
I’ll probably be out this week and maybe part of next week, but I anticipate being back to relatively normal after that. It just so happened that I got Ed and Nina when I return. I’m working on those pages even now.
Again, I apologize for the interruption in service. I know how annoying it must be since the comic moves at a glacial pace anyway, so waiting longer for pages doesn’t help. Please indulge me a while longer.

Again, thank you for visiting, and supporting me in this. I hope someday I can find a way to properly express my gratitude.

First poster and viewer. I just did a read-o-thon from the beginning since yesterday and I gotta say…I LOVE this comic! I’d seen it on a reel on GGaR and didn’t look at it until yesterday. So glad I did! Keep up the great work and I’m loving these guest comics!

I don’t mind the pace one bit. The exposition is slow, but you get to see so much of the characters for it, and it isn’t just gag strips.

“Hums sunglasses at night”

I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, So I can
Watch you weave then breathe your story lines
And I wear my sunglasses at night
So I can, So I can
Keep track of the visions in my eyes

It took a second for me to even remember that he was a previously-established character.

I do love how long your plot points go on, but some characters get screwed by it.

Then again, not like Wesley deserves anything nice like spotlight time, from what I remember.

Three times a week is hardly a glacial pace, man. There are plenty of comics out there that update once a week or less frequently than that. Don’t be too hard on yourself. :)

And keep getting better, man.

Phil

Even regular print comics, in which you have a writer, an editor, an artist, an inker, and a colorist all working on the same comic can only put out a 20 page comic once a month. One person doing 12-15 a month is pretty damn impressive.

“…the comic moves at a glacial pace…”

Really? Mark Stanley posted the first Freefall webcomic on March 30, 1997. He updates three times a week, but the in-story timeline has advanced less than one week, over 2,673 strips. Both of you cram a lot into a single day!

Damn, wish I could draw. I had a brainfart the other day, though; I’m playing around with an idea that might be entertaining.

Well – when you realize that if each comic from 30 seconds to a couple of minutes real time, it would take you 480 to 1920 comics to completely cover the events of a single 16 hour day assuming you didn’t show any simultaneous events. Currently the comic count stands at a bit over 1400, so in theory it could have been a single day and still not be done. My feel is that the time in this comic has stretched out over several months at least, so the pace seems quite reasonable to me. We just get kind of used to comics that only show a snapshot of a minute of what happens every few days – which makes it tough to develop characters. Jackie seems committed to giving us characters we can understand – at least a bit – so it takes longer to cover relatively few days.

Get well soon Jackie. Although your readers appreciate the guest artists chipping in to help out – and they have given us some good strips – they ain’t you.

The pace of the comic is not glacial at all to me; I mean, this is a comic about the journey, not about some destination. No rush.

And, while I look forward to you getting better so that you can make comics, take your time to get better! Thank you for taking a rest when you need it!

You are and have for a long time been in my regular webcomics reading top 5, and will remain so. You take whatever time you need to get well.

@Satalite09:
Thanks for helping out Crave.
I like this strip;
I have had people think me blind without wearing dark glasses.

@Crave:
Get better, sooner;
And stop worrying,
Worrying will make You sick, You know…
