725 Thinly Veiled.

Thanks for all the location comments on Nina’s new desktop image. It’s neat to see what a wide variety of places you’re all from. The title wasn’t meant to be a question. It’s just a line from Ghostbusters that seemed appropriate, but the response was much better than people just giving me the next line, which is “Okay, the usual stuff isn’t working.”

I was out and about in the world unexpectedly today and managed to get the last of the 3 Gamestop legendary pokemon. I missed the first one, but Carl from Ginger’s Bread traded me one. Having them is supposed to unlock something at some time, in some game. I can’t recall any of the important information, but I have them in the event I bother to learn it.
I’ve always hated Nintendo events where you can get pokemon you can’t get any other way. Something about that exclusivity annoys me. I also don’t like being able to rename my pokemon. Which I why I only trade to complete the pokedex. I like having a single naming convention, decided at the start of the game, that I follow till the end. It bothers me when things don’t match in game, like when names are spelled in all caps but you didn’t know that till after you named your guy, so it looks weird every time someone references you directly. I will start a game over because of that. Sometimes it can’t be avoided. Like in Silver Bill’s PC is written BILL’S PC, but your PC follows how you named your character, so it looks normal, which is how the rest of the game is, but that one thing aggravates me to no end. Every time you access the storage system it looks like this:

BILL’S PC
Jackie’s PC

I realize this is all a little obsessive compulsive. I’ve gotten better about it over the years. Eventually you just have to accept some things and let them go. The first time I played Pokemon I didn’t nickname any of them so that if I traded for outsiders the names would match as long as my partner didn’t name theirs either. Once it got to the point where I could have more than one version of the game, and more than one Gameboy, I started naming them whatever I liked. I’m sure I mentioned it before.

No small part of why I’m excited for the new games is that the pokemon are all new. A fresh world to step in to and force strange animals to fight for me.

At this point I could know everything there is to know about the new game if I so chose. More dedicated fans than I have picked apart Japanese versions of the game and spilled its sweet, runny, innards all over the internet. Avoided these places I have. Pokemon White will be mostly a surprise to me. I want to experience that unknown again. Use pokemon I just like, regardless of how weak they will be by the end of the game. Also, in this glorious age of interconnectedness I will be able to experience it with friends my own age. Unrepentant in our childishness. This ridiculous game that gives us a common history to build on.

Ah, ‘training with Reggie’. Good times. However, as a reader, I’m starting to get just a hint of a ‘get on with it’ feeling. The lack of the more central characters is acutely noticeable at this point.

They’re going to apparently release the event Pokemon via wi-fi again in a couple weeks. That said, I’m heading to Gamestop tomorrow to pick it up for myself.

In a couple weeks they’ll finally be giving out a Celebi too. Perhaps I’m just paying more attention because I actually have copies of the game now, but it seems like they’re more generous with the event pokemon this generation. Of course, I think having the wi-fi distributions helps a lot.

I know their collars are down but it looks like Reggie always has his popped for some reason.

Also, Reggie’s undershirt is purple and purple signifies royalty. YAY FOR LIT HISTORY CLASS.

I got all the event shinies this time. I made myself remember by putting the first five bucks on both new games down when I got the first one, and when I came back for the second and third I finished paying off one preorder each. Always have a plan, or at least a WEP-security wireless and PokéSav.

The Legendary Beasts you only really need one of, but it unlocks Zoroark in Black & White upon transfer.

…Yeah, I’m a nerd.

There was rumors of an Ash’s Pikachu being released this week at Toys R Us, and starting Feb. 27th is the Celebi one.

I find some satisfaction in his realizing he got KTFO’d, even if he’s not openly saying it. Hell, *especially* since he’s not openly saying it. THE MARK HAS BEEN MADE.

@Pokenerd Is not a rumor it’s happening right now. I’m more interested about the event’s happening right now in Japan, it’s unfortunate we don’t get nearly any of them here in America. I want Ash’s Zuruggu :(.

Also, why do I get the feeling blonde boy here is gonna pull a fast one on Reggie and ask Nina out therefore crushing his pure heart and sending him on a rage which will bring the store to chaos.

I think this scene is a pretty important one, because it shows that Wes isn’t Satan incarnate. It gives a sense that, yeah the guy isn’t all about numero uno, and he does care. He’s a human just like everyone else, he’s just trying to feel people out by gauging their responses to the things he says, whether positive or negative.

And through his particular brand of bonding, he’s managed to get Reggie to open up and speak to him on equal terms. Even encourages the guy and lets him know, it’s usually not as serious as people take it. Wes doesn’t get a fair chance with the audience because the dialogue slants the audience’s view of the guy immediately.

Y’know, in Reggie’s defense, he’s not a very big guy. If he leaned on the shelf, there probably WAS something wrong with it. If he were a fatty like me, then he’d have no excuse, but he’s not.

The thing is, I kind of identify with the poor dope…

I think everybody has Reggie moments.

My life seems to be defined by “Reggie moments” in conversation I have every so often.

Just imagine if you had to live with having a Reggie moment lasting your entire life. No wonder he tries to overcompensate: everyone else can walk away and leave the Reggie moment alone, but he’s stuck with it–forever.
