447 Ninja Party.

I had a dream last night that was very similar to one I’ve had before.  I was living in an old building and had to move for some reason.  Rather than gathering up my stuff I just went into the front area and started it up like a truck.  Then I drove it through the city.  I don’t recall the particulars of the dream, just that one point…  And being worried about low bridges.

There’s something very off putting about hearing the tweets of random people on television.  I can’t put my finger on what exactly.  Every time a news provider says they’re about to check their facebook, twitter, or what have you, I feel a twinge of rage.  If I wanted to know what sexybabe87 thinks about the economic downturn I’d follow her.  I don’t.  I want the media to tell me the facts so I can decide for myself.  Underline facts.  At some point everybody in newsrooms across the world forgot how to report objectively, without bias.  That’s a whole other thing though.

Your comment on “reporting without bias” is rather true. Also, a “Secret ninja under the counter party”? Count me in. =)

… I just realized that you follow the classic tradition of reusing art. Very sneaky… Yet oddly comforting. Makes me feel less bad about my own lack of artistic talent.

Heee! behind the counter fun!

Well I think one by one the news givers were bought out by the respective companies and parties. An easy way to prove this is that they are nitpicking over what percentage the budget is at the moment and not that 200Trillion dollars have vanished into the wilderness.

It’s the idea that, everyone thinks that THEIR opinion is important enough to broadcast to the entire world via the internet. What they don’t understand is, their opinion is about as interesting to me, as watching a potato grow.

I gave up Animal Crossing a few days ago. Basically I’d done everything relevant except for catching seasonal fish/bugs. So I started growing hybrids to pass the time and possibly show off to any visitors I might have (I’ve been to 2 towns and had 0 visitors, but whatever).

As part of the background, the game is actually my roommate’s. He doesn’t play anymore. BUT… his girlfriend apparently does. And she’s not very “good”, I guess. If you CAN be good at AC.

In any case, I wasn’t on for a day, but she was, and apparently all of my hybrids (20+) were wilted. She didn’t water them, of course, so the next day I log on and they’re all gone. It was one of the most depressing days I’ve had in a while. Yet I couldn’t really get mad because that would be stupid (or something…).

But there ya go. I just wanted to share my AC frustration to someone that might know.

The thing about a ninja party is, how do you know if it was a success? There’s no trash cans to empty, no way of knowing who was there. Sort of like the annual ninja parade…

Welcome to the “dumbing down”.

Any body here old enough to remember the economic principal of “stump money”? The theory was that there were areas so impoverished that it did not matter what project the government put money into, it would help the local economy. Even if they just left it out in the woods on a stump to be found, it would benefit the local people.

Sounds like the title of a bad horror movie…”The Return of the Stump Money”… coming to a local economy near you!
“Whose movie is this? This is no movie this four reel!” {F.S.T.]

Reply to Phantasim fan:
“Heh heh, soon the whole group will be behind the counter.”

Except for Reggie of course. He will be wandering the store looking for everyone, and eventually will become swamped by a sudden rush of people. Death by “sale-mob”. Hee hee.

I don’t think Carol would join the counter-stealth party, and my hypothesis is that she’ll be the one to break it up.

This suggests that objective, unbiased reporting was an actual thing at some point. Nothing I know about history suggets this is true. While some sources may be more objective than others, all of them tend to have at least some implicit bias baked in. Rather than seek the mythical beast of a completely objective source, I prefer sources that are reasonably honest about their agendas, allowing me to adjust my skepticism accordingly.

The news has been biased since the dawn of time. Humans are biased and will forever report their side of things.

Yeah, people say that when they’re too lazy to demand better, or too self absorbed to care. The bias in reporting comes and goes depending on who is stewarding things. You may never remove bias, but being aware of it, and actively trying to avoid it, was part of accepted teaching when I was in school.
