1382 Dander Up.

I’m all caught up on Game of Thrones now. By the end I was damn good and ready to not watch any more for a while. It’s kind of a rough ride. Much like The Walking Dead. You want to know what happens, but you also have things to do, but the thought of what might happens sticks with you all the time. O_O Anyway, that’s done for now, until whenever the new episode is.

I need to do some stuff, but I’m really tired and hurty. My last doctor bill arrived yesterday. Another thousand fucking dollars. In all seriousness, if anything else goes wrong with my health I’m just going to have to die. I’d rather spend a few fun days with my money than the next decade paying people for my miserable existence. It’s been weeks since that sleep study and no one has contacted me about the breathing thing. Which is fine by me. If the insurance company isn’t going to pay for it I’m not having the damn thing anyway. I need to draw up a will and get everything in order so that if something ever does happen to me there will be the tiniest chance that my legacy will live on, and you guys will get to keep reading the comic.

Nobody in my family has any talent for what I do, and I have no family of my own, so I pretty much have to will the thing to some group who sees value in it as a property. I’ve actually been working on this little plan since the day I went into the hospital originally. This much is certain, writing up papers about what you want to happen after you’re dead really hammers your mortality into your brain. It also throws the pathetic state of my life into stark contrast. Ironically, I am better at writing when I’m unhappy, so the stuff for a couple of weeks from now should start being even better. Actually, let’s not set the bar too high. Maybe it would be safer to say I will maintain and POSSIBLY exceed the level of quality you have come to tolerate over the years. XD

If I didn’t have any other expenses I could actually pay off the newest bill all at once. With my normal ad revenue and the help of my patient and kind patrons I’m very nearly in the black even with the doctor stuff. I mean it’s still the kind of ledger that would make an accountant laugh at me behind my back, but better than I’ve done ever before. So, you know, sunny side and all that.

The teen is speaking to me again. Calling her out on the texting and whatnot made her mad. Although as far as I know she never read the blog post. I’d already talked to her before that point and was in troubler over it as I was telling you guys. Just in case you think I use the blog to passive aggressively talk shit. That is not the case. I try to talk shit directly to the person in question whenever I can. It’s not very Thomas like, but I kind of like people to know exactly where I stand in my old age. I’m also a bit of a douche. Generally problems get solved faster if you just deal with them. Although it usually sucks for a few days. It’s still better than weeks of suffering if you let things get out of hand. I let that happen last month and it didn’t end well.

Really, it was probably better that she hated me while prom was happening so she could focus on that and not be trying to get me to drive her places. I can report at this time that prom wasn’t the Disney princess affair people often hope it will be. Her date texted the entire time.

I’m just going to let that hang there for a minute.

Yeah, but she asked some dudes to dance and got asked too, if I remember correctly, which is more than I ever did. From my perspective it seemed like an okay thing, but that’s just me looking in.

Her next play is Friday. She has a bad feeling about it, and I’m not surprised. Their instructor is one of the least capable people I’ve ever heard tell of. Which is saying something… The Teen also has a lead role and is not feeling confident in her knowledge of the script. All I know is that I’ve been elected videographer. So I get to run the camera while this all goes down.

tough call, on one hand that is pretty messed for her date to focus more on texts than her, but at the same time that could just be me being “old school”. However it is pretty common in this day and age, I forget which group did it but some school did a study on the effects of modern technology on human social behaviors and found that much of the way that, say, my generation (and some others here too obviously, 80’s and up generations) would communicate in varying situations has been lost with the advent of modern technology. so it’s not that uncommon to see someone on a date while also on their cell checking texts.

I agree with Strider but also i think its the age we live in technology is a boon and a hinderance, on the one hand we have all these advances in science and medicine, on the other its making the human race has a whole stupider. prime example the internet and how its destroying the english language, the other problem is texting has a whole has made people less inclined to interact with others, for example instead of picking up the phone to make a phone call people text, or instead of having an eye to eye conversation more people spend time texting and ignoring everything else

A small quibble…the internet has not been destroying language. People have been complaining about ” kids these days are destroying language” since Shakespeare, and likely before him t oo.

Shakespeare- if you truly understood half of what was said in those plays, they make raunchy comedies blush.

Just my opinion, directed at no one in particular:

“the older generation”, who maybe stereotyped as anyone over 30 or 40, has probably been saying [ those kids are ruining language, society, + everything], since the 1st cavemen + cavewomen started using simple tools, way back when.

In the Woody Allen film, “Radio Days”, the “old people” look down on the kids, who listen to radio action shows, + radio comedy shows, all day. I think, “The kids are alright”, + all that.

“And the Beat Goes On”, sang Sonny and Cher.

Okay, no one else has asked so I gotta- on Monday you were starting season one, and now you’re all caught up? How did you manage to watch THAT much Game of Thrones in just two days?! That’s like… Three or four seasons! There’s not enough hours!

I was at just past the red wedding on Sunday, which is season 3 I think. Then I watched nothing else while I worked, from that night till the next post went up. If I was in the house working I was also watching. Which means I didn’t technically see the shows. I heard them more than anything else. XD

That dude purposely made her angry….

ah. He has an anger fetish. I knew a guy that liked tall girls that were taller than him and really liked it when they were angry with him. It took him a while to realize that though.

Vibes on the health and the hospital costs. I’ve been having some back issues and have seen my doctor more this year than the previous 5 years put together. Like you I’ve found the ‘joy’ of opening bills. Visit to the anesthesiologist? 1.5K. Argh! And that’s with insurance.

America has far to go before it gets to where the other civilized countries are in terms of costs.

Not the “other” civilized countries. The civilized countries.

When the richest, most technologically advanced nation state in the known history of the galaxy does not guarantee that its citizens are provided such basic biological necessities as health care, you can’t call it civilized.

But it’s not “The Country’s” responsibility to guarantee you get health care (or maybe I should say “Health Care”). That’s up to you, your friends, and family. People living in Texas shouldn’t be responsible to pay the medical bills of people in Maryland.

Y’know. Just sayin’.

Ah, why is that?

In my opinion, the Post Office is the most reliable and efficient industry run by the government. And they’re virtually bankrupt. Got something delivered the other day-after about 8 months. Have gotten packages marked “damaged in postal service” or somesuch, and still couldn’t get anything done about it. Are these really the people you want in charge of your health care? Got a liberal regime in power, and you’re a conservative? “Oh, you really don’t need a hip replacement-here, have a pain killer.” Or just the opposite with a republican regime and you’re a democrat. Don’t think it would happen? The IRS did exactly that. And by many accounts, hasn’t stopped. And if a conservative deleted e-mails or had their hard drives “lost” there’d be riots and lynch mobs. Anything you care about, anything that matters to you, you should keep the government as far from it as possible.

Have you considered not having insurance? Any time I go to the hospital and tell them I’m a cash patient, I pay in total less than half of what people with insurance have to pay.

My friend and I both went to the hospital for blood work for our hormones. She used insurance, I said I’d pay cash. I paid about $150 for the whole thing, while her bill was over $500.

Moral: Insurance makes you pay more.

From your comment, I get impression you may suffer from sleep apnea and may need a CPAP.

Please do not give up on it if you need it – I suffer from sleep apnea, and have CPAP, and it is the best thing that ever happened to me, and best $$$ I ever spent – it was like getting a new life after walking around with cotton in my head for years. I had no idea how badly sleep deprivation was messing up my life and making me miss most of it in a sleep coma zombie state (without machine I was getting 20% of the deep sleep normal people get)

“Her date texted the entire time”

Oh god, my spleen. That’s hilarious from the schadenfreude point of view.

I’m not social myself. I went to 4 Rivers BBQ today, which has great food but atrocious seating.

The tables are 60ft long with either stools or long bench seats, so if it’s busy (e.g. lunchtime) you have little choice but to sit shoulder to shoulder with some stranger. Ugh. Completely invades my private space to the point I usually skip it, despite the excellent food.

So today I sit down and the guy next to me goes “HI I’M JOE! HOWYA DOIN’! GREAT WEATHER, HUH?!”

I looked at him… thought of a couple nice things to say, explaining I wasn’t interested in talking, realized he would probably not get the point anyway, and looked him in the eye and said “F*ck off, mate”

I was not bothered during the rest of my lunch.

I mean, sure, she’s towering, and he clearly has some form of crush on her, but… logically speaking, what she’s saying doesn’t work. Sure, she’s saying if he comes up to her and starts talking shit she won’t be receptive, that’s fine as far as it goes, but for me, if I see a guy acting like a bit of a douchebag- having been previously TOLD he’s at least a bit of a douchebag- and it suits me to comment on that fact, I’ll do so, should I please.
