Arrr, Brooksie!

I’d join team Brooksie in a second, even if she did want to ruin the pokemon world by creating either too much water or land.

I’d join Team Brooksie, because instead of trying to catch pokémon all the time, we’d put on fancy costumes and quote movies all the time, while on a boat!

Two things: IMO, Pokemon doesn’t need replay ability because it has a lot of long term playability (and it gets longer every time they add new crazy shit). Though, I admit, I was irate they made TMs infinitely reusable like HMs because it meant A) collecting them is not nearly as hard, and B) it killed the market for them. As someone who considers them self a breeder and (yes, I’m a freak) looks at training & combat as a distant 2nd, TMs were amazing currency to help me get my mitts on rare breeding items or berries. Thankfully, because I built up such a massive collection of rare, event & Legendary Pokemon during generation IV, this didn’t screw me like I thought it would. I can still get my hands on anything I want, no matter rare, because what I have will always be more rare. It sounds arrogant, but I spent a lot of time beating my face off breeding to get a lot of the various event Pokemon because I live in the boonies & could only get in on WiFi events (The nearest Toys R Us is still 2.5 hours away, and we didn’t get a GameStop closer than that until a year ago or so and that’s still a 2 hour round trip from where I live). I couldn’t drive until I was 21, and asking my mom to pull a 5-hour trip for Pokemon seemed ignorant. Although, god bless her, when they did the Jirachi event before SS & HG released, and we didn’t know there’d be a follow up WiFi event, my mom offered to take us (my brother & my ‘adopted’ brother, & I), because all three of us loved Jirachi, dearly, and he was SO FREAKING RARE at the time, and was my absolute personal favorite (*waves to the Jirachi plush that sits on her nightstand*). So arrogant as it may be to say I can get my hands on any Pokemon, I busted my mental ass to get the collection I have, and can back it up.

Which leads to subsection A-2 of this post: I wanted to put the offer out there that if there are any Pokemon you’re looking for, chances are I either have it or can get it easily. I’ve been dragging my feet with Black & White do I’m missing some of the in-game ones, but other than that, I’m loaded for bear on every non-Japanese event Pokemon for the last *thinks* 5-7 years, and I use a cloning technique for legendaries that is basically the closest thing you can get to legit (I’ll explain if you want details). But yeah, if you need something, feel free to send me a DM on Twitter (same screen name as here).

Aaaaand, the 2nd thing….I’d noticed it being mentioned somewhat frequently in the comic, but I didn’t really get that it was a solid ideal behind Jo until I read the about page: the idea that because someone dyes their hair, they want to draw attention to themselves is misplaced at best, arrogant at worst. Mainly because it assumes that everything a person does is solely for the benefit of other people has always bothered the hell out of me. While I have met people who’ve dyed their hair to stand out, they’re in the strict minority if people I know who dye. Most want to try something new and see themselves in a different way. Some just wanna look like anime characters because they like how it looks, even though they catch hell for it. My hair is bright, über purple at the moment, and I’ve mostly went flaming red and burgundy for the better part of the past 10 years. I hate attention. And I’m not saying that as an attention draw. I literally despise people noticing me, especially because when its because of my hair, I usually wind up verbally attacked or scorned (Bible belt). I have severe social anxiety & the last thing I EVER want is people noticing me whom I don’t know. And hell, I freak out when people I DO know notice me in public. I actually wear bandanas out of the house most of the time because I get so freaked out about the attention my hair gets. So, trust me, some of us actually dye out hair various rainbow hues because we just genuinely like the color and feel it suits us. I have to say, that’s one thing people never seem to think about when they see someone with an unnatural hair color. They never imagine we feel more comfortable and “ourselves” topped in color. But my mom have me shit for the last decade about going red/burgundy, even though it generally looked natural-ish. Especially compared to rich, vivid purple that required bleaching my hair first. I thought my mom would tweak, but I’d always wanted to go purple and finally had an opportunity. Go figure, my mom who generally hates dye jobs has repeatedly raved about how my having purple hair makes her smile every time she sees it & that it suits me even more than my natural color. So, as I said; some of us just genuinely feel more comfortable vivid & do it for our own enjoyment.

When I do it, I do it because I happen to like the way my hair looks colored. Though I get a lot of strange looks when I color my hair because I’m 43. I don’t really care, I do it for me not the people looking at me.

But because I have really dark hair (aside from the silver) and I need to bleach it out really well before I can put a new color in, I don’t do it as often as I would really like to do. I still so want to color my hair electric blue, but the last time I tried my hair didn’t bleach out far enough and turned kind of a sea green. (Bleached out to an orange-ish blond + electric blue = sea green)

I don’t really have the money to get it done professionally so I get my oldest girl to do it for me. She’s been dying her hair different colors since she was around 12 or 13, so she’s got a lot of experience at it. LOL!

Oh my god. This is why I shouldn’t comment while medicated. I had no idea how long that post would be (I’m on my phone, so it looked much shorter). I apologize for blathering on like that, lol.
